and then again it’s probably not legal to do with any game in the first place

Emulation is essential in preserving video games when their creators wouldn't. Honestly govs wouldn't give a fuck if you're emulating. They barely give any fucks when someone pirates content (depends on the country).
If you're worried about the legality of emulating old video games, it's entirely fine if you emulate games that are no longer being sold/supported their publishers. (i.e. Nintendo no longer publishing the original super mario bros from 1985)
Besides if you bought the game second hand the money wouldn't go to the people who made it anyway so it wouldn't change a thingDementedduck wrote:
with the morality thing i just do it based on how much money i spent on the game physically, i have multiple copies of some games on psp and gameboy for example so i would have no moral quandaries about... obtaining those games to emulate if i cant rip them myself
I've seen some places that sell old games and consoles for a farily normal price, like some retro games stores from Akihabara. Maybe a trip to japan would be cheaper than getting an expensive cartridge on amazon that's already been used lmao.Karmine wrote:
