I heard that aiming from your elbow is better but I'm not exactly sure how/why. Would be nice to see people's opinions on this.

I guess you could also aim from your elbow when playing tablet, but that'd be extremely hard.

Depends, I personally play just by moving my wrist since my mousepad shakes alot since I play on my bed. Playing with your elbow would be better especially with lower sens but that's mainly because lower sens is smoother.
At the end of the day you play osu best when your arm is comfy, so play however you like as long as it feels right to you.

I've never used my elbow to play osu. It's just not comfortable.

edit: Oh wait I just realized that I use it to put my mouse in the right place but apart from that I only aim with my wrist.

Aiming from your elbow is pretty good to reduce mouse drift. Unfortunately most mouse players aim from the wrist since aiming from the elbow is quite a learning curve and can be difficult to get accustomed to.

I think a lot of how you aim depends on your mouse sens settings. Mine is pretty low so I aim with my whole arm, and use a tiny bit of wrist when aiming corners of the screen. Only benefit I see to aiming with arm is hand health, aiming wrist can cause pain when overdoing it but with arm it's very hard to get injured.

I aim only with my fingers

Lower sensitivity, elbow will reduce mouse drift and make you consistent but is hard to learn. Higher sensitivity, use the wrist and make precise movements. Personally my sensitivity is in the middle and I use both depending on how far apart notes may be.

Its technically better to aim with more of your arm rather than just your wrist. Most pros agree with this

It spreads the tension to more of your arm reducing the risk of RSI.

It gives you better control since different parts of your arm control micro and macro movements.

Aim speed isn't reduced because lower DPIs give larger leeway for error and so you can move the mouse quicker without having to stabilize as much.

Shroud himself says pure wrist aim is wrong and you need to stop. Its in the video below:

You're naive if you think that being nice will solve the problem

hmm would definitely agree very much, having lower dpi/bigger area doesnt really mean that you get less speed. I've experienced this first hand playing both low dpi and a big area.

What's described in this video is basically impossible for me, because my chair has armrests. Good to know my posture is shit though. /gen

I've pretty much given up trying to get a proper posture for playing, I just do what feels most comfortable at the current moment when playing, when im fcing something I usually do the gurbzy posture as it feels easy to concentrate with

tbh a good proper posture is the one where you're occasionally switching between comfortable positions. Doing one good posture all the time is nice and all but eventually you'll get stiff and feel pain.
