Osu! on integrated graphics?

I am looking to buy a new laptop and one that has really got my attention is the Samsung Ativ 9 Plus.

My only worry is that it uses integrated graphics, no dedicated card, with a haswell i5 and I am wondering if it would be able to handle Osu! well enough to play maps like Airman smoothly. Anyone have any comments based on personal experience with playing Osu! on integrated graphics? I want to assume it shouldn't be a problem, but still would like opinions.

Oh it'll be fine, I'm running @ 400fps in-game with my Intel HD Graphics (from years ago.)

never had integrated graphics but it should be fine i think, my old all in once pc ran like 200fps and it was complete crap

Beatmap which have the video (maybe) need integrated graphics (tiny values), my Tablet PC (Samsung Ativ Tablet Smart PC, type XE500T1C) got some laggy when playing the video beatmap.

Intel's really pumped up their integrated graphics like hell with Haswell, and it literally runs several times faster than previous generations. If you don't plan on trying to play other graphics intensive modern FPS, then you'd actually be fine with anything else, including osu!.

I used the integrated chip on my i5 2500k while my gpu was dead and it ran fine as long as the game was on OpenGL.

If osu! is lagging on your computer, your computer is pretty bad. If it can run basic programs, you should be fine

Yeah you are perfectly fine. Osu! utilized more CPU than GPU. What's lost can easily be made up. As scottyyy noted, you may have to switch to OpenGL, but that isn't a problem if you do.

Just be sure to framelimit :3

If you turn BG off you should be fine... I just recently bought a touchscreen laptop with integrated video and it runs smoothly with 118+ fps.

If it doesn't work with directx it will work on OpenGL, like my old 2006 PC :)

Thanks for all the input, much appreciated. Feeling a lot safer about the decision to get a laptop without a dedicated graphics card.

Intel core 3xxx and 4xxx all should be good enough for playing osu! (as 3xxx contains hd4000 *using right now, rarely using dedicated gpu for osu!* and 4xxx is having hd4600)

Getting 659 FPS on 3rd gen i3-3110 with HD 4000 (all settings enabled except smoothing filter, full res)

So i got the laptop now and am having a problem... in settings menu like 400 fps but once i start a song i drop to 40 fps
i5 haswell, intel 4400 graphics

Go to options and adjust your frame limiter, possibly if you want to adjust it live you also can toggle through it with F7.

Also, turn on directx as a rendering method if you haven't.

Turn down your resolution to 1080p or less (I recommend 1600x900 for your situation).

You're going to have to do this for your other games as well.

I can vouch for the ATIV 9's. I've ran the touch screen variations with integrated graphics and osu! was a breeze.

i dropped my res to 1366x768 and I get the exact same FPS =/
I think somethin is wrong with my drivers then...

I don't think osu requires a lot of GPU power.

Get your drivers checked, make sure your laptop is plugged in and running on a good power scheme, turn off the softening filter and tell us what you get. Also if you have a desktop slideshow enabled, iirc that can lag low end systems (like REALLY low end) so maybe turn that off too. Tbh this is sort of getting out of the scope of this thread so you should probably start another one in Tech Support after.
