- osu!mania 4k, played with Score v2 enabled
- Players will register as Teams of 2
- Point-based match play, elimination will be based on team point totals and overall placement.
- Teams will qualify on a Qualifier Mappool of 4 charts of varying difficulty, each qualifier map will be played by one player per team. Each team is allowed two rounds to play the qualifier pool.
- Each week of match play will feature two maps; every team will choose which team member will play which chart of the two. Every player’s performance will be placed on a leaderboard and their team will be awarded (or deducted) a number of points for their placement.
- The final two teams will compete on a pool of five maps of varying difficulty which will all be played in order to determine the winner. Similar to qualifiers, each team will choose one player to play each map (except for the final map "Extra Stage" which will be played by all 4 players).
- All maps are SV maps of varying difficulty and types, they will be assigned a point on an “Information Compass” before lobby signups are opened which will give players important information on the content of each chart.
Here is a rundown on how Information Compasses will work: Every Information Compass will run on a 5x5 grid where the X-Axis represents the chart type bias and the Y-Axis represents the complexity bias (Where does the difficulty come from? Is the chart particularly physical? Are the rhythms hard to understand?)
The Tournament Structure will go as follows:
- There will be two maps released each week, 24 hours before the lobbies are set to begin. One “Side A” map and one “Side B” map. Each team will have exactly one player sign up for exactly one Side A lobby and the other player sign up for exactly one Side B lobby.
- The maps for each week’s match play will be posted on the Friday of each week with lobbies set to begin starting 24 hours after the uploading of the maps and ending 72 hours after, this means that lobbies will run for 48 hours.
- There will be a total of 24 lobbies per side, for a total of 48 lobbies per week. This averages a lobby every 2 hours per side.
- The lobbies will be indicated beforehand as being either a “Side A” or “Side B” lobby. Teams must have their players sign up for each week’s respective lobbies BEFORE the maps for the week are uploaded. Failure to do this will result in the errant player’s score being “0” for the week.
- Elimination will occur based on team point totals. Starting Week 2, the bottom 4 teams will be automatically eliminated from the tournament; for future reference, this elimination clause is called "Culling". Starting Week 1, the bottom half of teams will enter what is known as "Last Chance", this is effectively similar to losing a match in a standard Double Elimination format. Once you are in Last Chance, if you place in the bottom half of teams in one of the following weeks then your team is eliminated. Last Chance is Culling inclusive, this means that the teams that will be eliminated through Culling are considered as a part of the bottom half for Last Chance purposes.
- ex. 16 teams enter week 3 and all of them are in Last Chance. After Week 3 concludes, 8 teams will be eliminated: 4 from Culling and 4 from Last Chance, since both occur simultaneously (as opposed to if Culling occurred first, then 6 teams would be eliminated through Last Chance because Culling would drop the remaining team number to 12).
- Players will be given a 15-minute notice before their lobby is set to begin and invites will be sent to the players 5 minutes before the first round is started. A late player may join the lobby after the first round of the map has been played, their forfeited rounds will be considered a 0.
- There will be no warm-up in the lobby.
- Players will be given three plays of the map with up to 120 seconds in between each round. The highest of each player’s three plays will be considered their score for the map. Players may opt out of the lobby after either their first or second play and the attempts they forfeit will be considered a 0.
- The following mods are allowed to be used in the lobby:
- No Fail, Mirror, Hidden, Fade In, Flashlight
- The following mods are not allowed to be used in the lobby:
- Any mods that affect the score multiplier (Easy, Half Time), Key adjusting mods (1k, 2k, …), Double Time, Nightcore, Hard Rock, Sudden Death, Perfect, Random, Cooperative
- Players will not be given retries according to connection issues, wrong skin, wrong key binds, wrong scroll speed, or any other sort of controllable or uncontrollable errors. Should a player disconnect from their lobby before it is concluded and give a proper indication that they have disconnected and are coming back, then the referee may reset the start timer until that player returns. The hope is that three attempts will be enough to allow players to perform their best even if an issue may arise.
- The scores of each side will be compiled and used to determine the point payout for each team. Each side will have exactly 32 participants until eliminations occur, a no-show or failure to signup for a lobby by the deadline will result in a marked score of “0”.
- The point payout system will follow the placing of each player respective to the rest of the players that played in their “side” that week.
- For each player each week, their team will be awarded (or detracted) points respectively to each player’s placing in their lobby following this table:
- In a situation where multiple players tie for a certain position, they all receive the same amount of points equal to that of the highest place of contention:
ex. The two highest scores on a map are 998204 which is a tie between two players; both players will receive the first-place point payout of 30 points. The next lowest score from 998204 will then receive the third-place prize of 20 points.
ex. Three players no-show to their lobbies for a certain side, making their effective scores “0”, this is a three-way tie for last place so all three players will get -16 points and the next highest score from 0 will get the 29th place prize of -16 points.
- For example: starting week 2, 4 teams have been eliminated. This means that a player who places in last place of their Side will net the 28th place prize of -8 points for their team.
- Each team’s cumulative point totals will be compiled after all lobbies are complete and will be made public.
- Starting the first week of match play, the bottom half of teams score-wise will enter a state known as “Last Chance”. Starting the second week of match play, the bottom 4 teams of every week will be immediately eliminated from the tournament after scores are compiled. [Bottom Half] for purposes of “Last Chance” would include the bottom four teams that may be immediately eliminated starting on the second week
- If a team is in “Last Chance” then that means they are at risk of being eliminated. If a team in “Last Chance” does not raise their position to be above the median scoring team (16th place or above for 32 teams) then they will be immediately eliminated from the tournament, regardless of if they are a bottom 4 team or not. Once a team enters “Last Chance” they cannot leave it for the remainder of the tournament until Finals Week (where only two teams advance).
- Match Play of this tournament will not be streamed.
- The only streams that will occur will be for the Qualifier Mappool Showcase, The Final’s Week Mappool Showcase, and the Final Match. There will also be intermittent streams during each week that will be in podcast format to update the players on the positioning of teams They will all be streamed at https://twitch.tv/svsummerexhibition
- The maps for each week will be posted on Fridays at 4UTC
- Lobbies each week begin on Saturday at 4UTC and end on Monday at 4UTC (inclusive, meaning there is a lobby that starts at 4UTC on Monday).
- The Information Compasses for the next round of maps will be posted following the conclusion of the final lobby of the week.
This tournament will run off of the following schedule:
- Team registration closes Saturday, May 27th at 18:00UTC.
- Saturday, May 27th to Saturday, June 3rd will be a grace period allowing for teams and staff to prepare. Teams may also have their registration rescinded should staff see fit, teams may also choose to rescind their own registration if they realize that they cannot properly participate in the tournament.
- Qualifiers mappool will be posted on Saturday, June 3rd at 20UTC
- Teams will sign up for qualifiers lobbies that will range from Friday, June 9th to Sunday, June 11th.
- The top 32 teams will move on from Qualifiers to Match Play. Should there not be 32 teams that participated in qualifiers then the tournament will proceed with the top 16 teams from qualifiers
- If the tournament continues with only 16 teams then the clause that states “the bottom 4 teams of every week will be immediately eliminated” will not be in effect, therefore teams will only be able to be eliminated through Last Chance elimination.
- Week 1: June 16th - 18th
- Week 2: June 23rd - 25th
- Week 3: June 30th - July 2nd
- Week 4: July 7th - July 9th
- An intermediate week will then occur after week 4 to allow staff to compile scores and release the two teams that will face off in Finals. This week will give both teams time to schedule their Final face-off.
- The Finals Week mappool will be released on July 15th
- The Final Match must occur at least 5 days from the uploading of the Final’s week mappool: Friday, July 21st - Sunday, July 23rd.
