Ok when I play osu everytime I play I always look at the next note if it's a slider and otherwise I seem to only look at the general direction of every note I dont't always look exactly at one note onle every once in a while I do. Is this normal?

I think thats normal. As long as it feels alright to you theres no problem.
If with this you are able to full combo maps, everything is good!

I usually have an open mind and look at the screen as a whole. Not literally, but like more perceptive to other notes that appears on screen while I'm focusing on the current ones.

Personally, the less I will look at a circle, the more luckily I will be to shit miss it.
But if you don't have any big shit miss issues and feel comfortable with the way you read patterns, I don't see any problem.
I think there's a lot of people who just look in the middle of their screen to read. Not sure to understand how they don't shit miss on anything though.

This is normal, and it's a skill you'll build upon as you keep playing.
