Hello fellow catchers. There's been less than 24h since we can register for CWC2k23 and there is still plenty of time to do it!
I've decided to create list of all countries which could register team for Catch World Cup - meaning they have at least 4 players ranked #5000 or better.
List includes inactive "grey" players but doesn't include long-time inactive ones, so only these who appear in ranking list are there. I know it's not ideal and that there might be (or not) few mistakes but I've done it all manually.

Countries are sorted by number of players in top5000, starting with immense representation from the United States with 480 players, followed by Indonesia - 312 and France - 273.
There is 84 countries which could register team for CWC2k23 if registration closed right now. That is very impressive number looking at the fact that historically we had "only" 50 countries to play in any CWC edition. So if you would like to make history with your country - give it a try and register, even taking part in qualifiers is something you can be proud of if your contry isn't big osu!catch community.
Country which never participated in CWC with highest number of eligible players is Dominican Republic with 13 top5000 catchers.
Few of these countries have really high top3 (Tournament is 3vs3) players average pp, e.g. Kazakhstan - 10729pp, Costa Rica 9913pp, Belarus 9329pp, Latvia 9285pp, Panama 9254pp, Tunisia - 9149pp; of course pp doesn't equal tournament skill and we can't measure exact power of any team by that! But don't be surprised if you see less known for having osu! players countries, registering in CWC2k23!

There is top3 players avg.pp ranking too with #1 South Korea at 22691pp, followed by the US at 19766pp and France with 19655pp. Just behind podium we have Germany with 18705pp and at 5th place we have impressive score of 18670pp by Italy which according to number of players in top5k are 28th.
You can also see top6 players avg.pp of any country.
If you have any comments, notice something wrong etc. just write it please <3 ^^

With new qualifier formats in world cups more teams could theoretically compete as they aren't just locked to the 32 highest seed countries that sign-up. That being said even if all teams have 6 players only 192 players can make it to bracket stage which USA, Indonenia & France could have an entire tournament worth of teams just from members in the top 5k.

I have a question. I know that I most likely won't be good enough to join, but do you have to have a Discord account in order to join?

Mind elaborating or give any source that explain in more details what has changed? I honestly don't even know how "old" qualifier format looked like.

Well there wasn't any qualifiers in the past. Teams were formed and the teams were given a seed based on the average rank of the players in the team. Only 32 countries got to compete so if your players were lower ranked you would often not qualify to compete.
