[Archived] Why is my recommended difficulty on the map listing so low?

Problem:

The osu! website says my recommended difficulty is 1.53, but I have beat/S ranked maps more difficult than this. Why would my recommended difficulty be so low if I can easily beat much harder maps??

recommended difficulty is not a reliable source to see how good at the game you are, because it isnt always accurate or as high as you imagine (some players believe its based on your current pp)

I do believe it is set at your current gamemode PP based on an algorithm, but yeah, you should play each map and evaluate yourself based on that

It's not a reliable source to determine your skills.
It is calculated with this formula: YourTotalPP^(0.4) * 0.195 for osu! mode, for other modes, idk.
