I am on mac and I cannot find solutions onto why it is so

osu maps are supposed to be packaged as .osk files. you can just rename them to .zip, unpack and put in your song folder.
Alternately you should just be able to drag the .osk files into the osu! window and it will process them for you.

Are you using Lazer or the Stable through Wineskin?

Beatmaps are .osz files btw, not .osk.

Assuming you followed the steps chromb posted and the beatmaps are now inside your Songs folder. Try pressing Fn+F5 on the beatmap selection menu. Or just restart the game. Both should cause your beatmap list to refresh, which is needed if you moved the files into your Songs folder with the game open.

Otherwise, can you share some screenshots of the beatmaps in your Songs folder or share some more details about the steps/process you followed?
