The smoke changes are pretty game changing, I'm happy one ways aren't a thing anymore.

Overwatch is a game where you would have to make a lot of changes for it to be considered a sequel.
In my opinion Overwatch is far worse at balancing than CSGO is.
The Counter-Strike series on the other hand, hasn't had too much change in the gameplay since the early games. It's much harder to add things to Counter Strike. The change is smokes, physics, graphics, kill feed and even the look of skins, is big for Counter Strike.
But yeah, overall, it's like a graphical update, with some game changing mechanics.
Yes, but actually no. There are some changes. The engine is different, the UI is different, the physics, smoke, etc. And there are some improvement like sub-tick rate, the maps are improved (not just lazy port), changing the wheel shop UI into box one (thanks god). Ah I see, incredible to see an actual new game when you see how big companies milk their last ones for over a decade (Sims 4, GTA V...)
Valve know it will flop if they made it half hearted. Their employee are also players after all
