Are achievements encouraging enough for players?

Do you think they are good enough for gameplay or should there be more things to feel progression? Like the usage of level in some way (which tbh is a useless number rn).

achievements are pretty much a side quest for me.. it's not encouraging, it's just there.

i think im fine with current osu!. it gives you a lot of freedom to set your own achievements and goals.
building off that, i think osu should have a feature that lets you create achievements that's highly customizable (client-side only). i feel like it would help a lot of players from forgetting their own goals.. but that's just an idea.

Medals? Well, they're pretty much there. I personally don't feel anything from getting them besides "Oh a medal." And then move on with my day. Unless I'm medal hunting, there's no way for me to feel anything about them except the pass and FC medals, which tbh, is probably because you already have goals relating to those medals anyway.

The medals don't exist for the purpose of encouraging players to improve, per se. They exist essentially as fun easter eggs you can find while you play.

They are still incredibly obtuse in how to achieve them, even in the context of trying not to make it obvious what you're supposed to do, though. I don't think they need to be reworked or tailored toward player progression, just re-worded or tweaked so you aren't trial-and-erroring through the millions of maps to find the one map and the one mod combo to get one medal.

i wish you could turn all those off, visually atleast. it can be a detriment to have the game 'reward' you and make the game less fun to play.

Of course they are! Mostly for the beatmap packs & spotlights
