Hi o/ I got diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome a few days ago. But I think I actually have it for almost a Year now. I started with mid-index and after I felt that my mid finger wouldnt do anymore I switched to Ring-Index. This did help me until now... I felt pain and 6 months ago my speed and stamina kept decreasing a bit. I didn't worry about it tho and just thought I've haven't had a good day. As of now My mid finger hurts sometimes even tho I don't play with it. I haven't played for a week now and I won't for at least 3 weeks, since then I visit the Doctor again...

Now to my main question:
Can I start playing osu like before again when it recovered and feels better? I would buy a Wrist Rest and then just start playing again. Or should I just quit and let osu be the past. But I don't want to quit ... GUYS HELP ME PLSSSSSSSS lol ty for your responses!!!

You should probably wait until it feels better and then play with limited-time sessions, probably less than an hour. Make sure your tapping technique will not make you more prone to injury, keep your tapping hand close to level with your forearm, and don't make the hand curl above your wrist.

A wrist rest probably isn't going to help much. Since you recently got diagnosed 3 days ago you should probably take a break for at least 2 weeks at a minimum.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the end result when your wrists cant recover as fast as its being damaged. Your overall health has a very large influence on how hard you can push your hands. Osu is a very mechanically intense game so having fast physical recovery is more important than in other games.

To improve your situation try these things:
1. Start an exercise program to build muscle and get more fit. High intensity exercises like sprints and heavy weights will increase your overall health and recovery speed.
2. Eat plenty of high quality animal proteins (beef, chicken, milk products etc). These are the most bioavailable proteins and will help your body rebuild.
3. Avoid sugar, seed oils, alcohol & smoking, eat low carb.
4. Get as much sleep as possible. Also get sunlight in the morning and during the day when you can to regulate sleep hormones.
5. Go for a walk every now and then so you aren't sitting for too long. Being sedentary puts you more at risk for things like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Good luck!

It's perfectly okay to play again, just treat it as if you are in physical therapy and start off slow with easier maps when you start to play again. Add a bit of extra time to your time off, when it stops hurting isn't when it's all better. Be patient and stay positive!

I had a problem where my forearm hurt a ton after playing for a bit, at first I just ignored thinking that I just need to not play for a day or two. pretty much went on like that for half a year where my forearm would still hurt, after I realized that this isnt a simple problem I didnt play osu! for a month and when I came back my tapping was way faster and way more consistent that before.

before break I could not do anything above 200bpm, after break I could deathstream 200bpm and stream 220bpm no problem.

Man that's nice! I hope the same will work out for me. Do you know what it was? I mean I have/had different symptoms than you but knowing more isn't bad yk...

Also do you still have issues or is it just gone?

I don't think you can convince someone to spend hours of their life mapping with no foreseeable success in just one simple sentence

still about the same, I can still deathstream 200bpm and stream up to 240bpm from time to time

tho I do find that i cant play too much otherwise my fingers get very tired the next day. before I had the problem I could play for hours on end everyday without any issues, but after it I cant play as much as I used to as my fingers get exhausted more easily.

you need to change how and/or how much you play, or it'll get worse.
