The thought has been bugging me for some time now, and that is that how do you make yourself unique, everyday hundreds of thousands of plays are submitted and only a few become popular. its a sort of mental dilemma for me when i realize most of the stuff i do here is meaningless and if i have to make an impact i have to be the best or stand out in some way.

I enjoy the game as it is but sometimes the feeling of being bad or ignorable or lets just say, forgettable becomes overwhelming, is it just me or does anyone else relate?

Well, you either play to get good enough to be a top player, or you become a content creator.

Try doing something that most osu players wouldn't do, like having an abnormally high play count, play with unusual mods, offline play for years and pp farm once you know you'll get to 2 digit, things like that.

I can relate but I don't even care anymore. I just play for fun lmao

I feel the same way.
I'm not the best at cool plays at the moment and I don't think I'll be able to set any notable scores for a few years at least.

My solution for this is playing for something else than pp. Such as notes, ranked score, leaderboards, etc.

For me it's farming SS notes. I've gotten to rank 32 in the SS rankings and it's one of my proudest achievements in this game.
And the more SS I get the closer I become to reaching #1 in SS.

So yeah that's my solution to not feeling like a complete ghost.

Good luck catching Sleepteiner, Zalaria and EEEEEEEEEEE. And staying ahead of me, for that matter.

But yeah, I'd suggest score farming more than anything. You could be the next Xasuma and EEEEEEEEEEE and get 100% submissions!

Technically I would count...

Like a lot of people have been saying, a good way to stand out is to be a pro player like Mrrek or Blackdog5. It's easier if you play other game modes like catch as there are less people so it's easier to stand out there.

Another way out being noticed is by making interesting beatmaps. They don't even gave to be good, they just have to have a lit of people talking about you. Like for example, ScubDomino was talked about a lot after that TV sized map I forgot the name of got ranked. Even if a lot of people were hating on the map.

The final way I know of standing out is making content on Osu. It's best if you come up with original ideas so more people will watch the video and know you more. That or if you're already in one of the first two groups, a lot of people will watch your videos because of that.

Play gimmicks or lb then play more of them, someone may notice you one day
okkayowoyakko
Play maps that noone cares about with weird ass mod combinations until you get #1 on some mod leaderboard

Oh whoops I forgot about you. I check at your score rankings and you're at an impressive #6280! You'd plently count!

Hmmm, truly standing out when it comes to skill is really difficult nowadays. I think you should lower your scope and just try to stand out between your friends first. I find it helps with motivation
