After the first Battle of the Box, two champions were crowned as the Champions of the Box, Reedkatt and KSN of Team Battle of the Box. But now, almost a year later, the beloved ruler of the Cardboard Box, Dafren, has been captured, and an evil wizard has cast a powerful spell on Boxville, changing the Battle and its ways! It's up to heroes from inside and outside the Cardboard Box to save Dafren and return the Box and Boxville to normal! The second in a series of tournaments hosted by the Queen of Full Area herself, it's time for:
The Battle of the Box 2023: Trouble in Boxville!
This iteration will be played individually. Only the top 16 heroes will qualify after the Wizard's Trials, and they will compete over a six-week period in the Wizard's Gauntlet to win a cash prize and save Dafren & The Cardboard Box!
Some general things that you need to know:
• This tournament will be a double-elimination bracket played in ScoreV2.
• The entire tournament will be played with a non-standard mappool format; mappools will not increase nor decrease in size after the Round of 16.
• All match times will be in UTC.
• Lobbies and matches may not be rescheduled later than 24 hours before the match unless due to a sudden uncontrollable emergency*. [Definition found in Procedural Rules (Knockouts)]
• All players MUST join the discord, and their display name in the server must be the same as their osu! username for the duration of the tournament. Players can receive the Box Player role in #box-get-role. Failure to join will equate to disqualification.
• Any and all feedback is expected to be detailed and conveyed respectfully in the designated location. In addition, all rules listed in The Cardboard Box Discord are expected to be followed, both in and out of the tournament. Sufficient punishment will be applied accordingly for rule-breakers.
Please note that all rules are subject to change during the tournament for clarifications and/or adjustments as necessary.

Qualifier Round Rules
Stan Full Area• Every registered player is required to play the qualifiers mappool once. There are no exceptions.
• There will be no warmups during the qualifiers.
• Each map played will have 2-minute time intervals. The map will start regardless of whether all players are ready unless the referee chooses to make an exemption at their own discretion.
• In the event that a player was to miss their scheduled lobby, they are allowed to reschedule to a different lobby. Due to the restrictive timeline, however, they must reschedule as soon as possible.
• Players will be given the choice of replaying the Qualifiers pool right after the end of the first run through. If the player(s) choose to do so, the referee will allow for a 5-minute break, should the player(s) request it, and then run through the pool a second time. Players cannot reschedule to replay the pool a second time at a later point.

Procedural Rules (Knockouts)
• If a player is not present in the match lobby 15 minutes later than the scheduled match time, the match is forfeited regardless of circumstance. No rescheduling may be conducted during this time period, assuming the referee and/or a host/co-host hasn't been informed of a sudden uncontrollable emergency* from the opposing player.
• In the unlikely event that neither of the two players is present, both players will be required to forfeit, and whoever the winner and/or loser would face in the next round will receive a bye.
• Both players will !roll to determine the pick/ban/warmup order.
• The winner of roll gets the second ban, the first pick, and the first choice of warmup (if applicable).
• The loser of roll gets the first ban, the second pick, and the second choice of warmup (if applicable).
• Warmups are allowed to be up to 5 minutes long (total length, not drain time).
• Map picks will alternate between each of the players.
• When players are ready, the referee will type !mp start 10 in #multiplayer.
• The referee will force start the lobby if everyone isn’t ready after the timer has ended, regardless of the circumstance.
• Players should move to their designated slots as assigned by the referee, who is encouraged to move the players to their designated slots in the lobby using the multiplayer commands should the player not comply.
• For the bracket stages, the referee will put a 120-second timer on every map pick and ban.
• If the timer runs out on picking, the pick goes to the other player at the referee's discretion.
• If the timer runs out on banning, the player in question will not get a ban.
• The referee will put a 120-second timer on readying up for every pick after it has been picked (including tiebreaker), unless told otherwise.
• If a player disconnects 30 seconds or less through the map, the map will be retried regardless of the circumstance. This instance may only occur once per match per player. This rule is based on the MP link and nothing else.
• If a disconnect occurs after more than 30 seconds have passed in the map, there will not be an abort; the final score for the disconnected player will come from a screenshot or, should one not be available, from whatever was last shown on the stream.
*Note: A sudden uncontrollable emergency only applies to health and familial issues, such as a sudden health incident or the passing of a family member. This means that, for example, if you are asleep, it does not count as an uncontrollable emergency. If this clause is abused, it will be removed.
