I thought I was playing a lot when I was doing 1600 in a month.
but 4000!?
While you don't have to take a break, you should probably lean towards easier songs until your hands feel better.
Maybe try the flashlight mod on some low stars and mess around in some 2-3* lobbies. Great place to chill and chat. Met a lot of 4 digit, and even 3 digit, players just wanting to mess around in those lobbies.
Or just cool off for a few days.
