Right now, it's not clarified, how Genre/Language should be filled on remixes or covers that may be written in other style.
Because of this we have such inconsistency
beatmapsets/36319#osu/403050 Genre - Electronic (D'N'B), which is correct.
beatmapsets/710848#osu/1502678 Genre - Anime, which is NOT correct obviously.

I think, standardization section needs clarification to not repeat such situations again.
  1. If a song has been remixed in a way for it to change its genre or covered in different style from its original ones, use the respective new genre or language for tags and set page

There is not so much of inconsistency cases, but in my opinion this should be clarified.

This is only really an issue for mappers who don't tag both, as long as they are both fitting in their own right the genre of the map shouldn't matter too much.

Disagree with the proposal. It's the mapper's conscience to tag all relevant keywords (including re-adding the genre/language tags already used in the website).

To be honest this sounds like a case of bloating ranking criteria with unnecessary/rarely (if ever) necessary clarifications. Even in the example you've linked it seems fine to use Anime as the genre, considering the original song is featured in an anime.

I don't think this is a RC issue because it already states "Song genre and language must be added to the tags of a beatmap." and this includes remixes. The inconsistency between different maps exists because sometimes more than one genre apply or the genre is unclear. The "anime" and "video game" tags may also cause confusion because they're not musical genres like pop, rock etc. so it can be ambiguous whether the musical genre or the "source type" genre should be used.

I agree that more consistency would be ideal but that has more to do with how the genre tags are handled on the website so maybe a github issue for osu-web is more fitting for this, or a wiki article explaining how they should be used.

For example, Camellia's musics...

The genre should completely look on the current song, not the original song. If I made a rock remix of a classical song, then the genre field must be rock, not classical.

For anime/video game, it will be best to look whether the song is:
  1. A remix of existing anime/video game song
  2. Whether the remix is officially used in anime/video game
  3. And such

i feel this is very much needed, we need to stop with putting video game on touhou arrangements when they dont even use the original song directly
video game should be used only when mapped song was directly used in the game, same goes for anime

disagree, what if a cover or remix intentionally changes genre or language?

the best example i can give is RoR music box goldenwolf edit beatmapsets/747066
or any Will Stetson cover with english translyrics
or BEASTARS (YOASOBI) - Kaibutsu/Monster - two versions of the exact same song exist but one is with Japanese lyrics, one with english lyrics, and both are official releases

this proposal was made just for these cases, visit example i linked.

will stetson. if english cover - lang is english
ror music box is electronic / instrumental as it should be according to proposal
Ryu Sei
It isn't needed. Even if the similar case happens in the future, modders and BNs will spot that the song has incorrect genre/language.

It will be unrankable anyway if the genre/language is not correct.

i read this like you wanted to include tags for both the cover and original, which can make things misleading

you're misunderstanding, currently setting "anime" as genre on anime song remix is technically correct and thus can't be modded out, the point of proposal is to prevent such cases
