so i have a few songs id like to make a map of but i dont have the slighest idea of where to start so i was wondering if anyone would teach me how to do it

If you want someone to help you learn mapping, the Community Mentorship Program is a good place to start. Signups for next cycle (Winter 2023) should start in the coming weeks. Note that all applicants aren't accepted.

In the meantime, you can learn on your own by looking at your favorite maps and experimenting with the editor. Although there are many mapping guides available online, playing around with the editor first can help you develop a unique style.

this + you also need to have some experience with the editor for any concrete mapping advice to be useful
