Let's say I am creating a beatmap for music A, and I am done with one difficulty.

However then I discover another person who has already been mapping the same piece of music as I do. The beatmaps are still works in progress but are starred and eligible for approval.

Is it okay, or rather, "normal in the OSU! community", for me to give my beatmap to this person and request it to be reviewed and probably be added to the existing set?

I sincerely hope this isn't a "never-seen-before" and arrogant act... considering my novice status in here. >:(

Yeah that's normal. The other user, of course, has the right to not use it if they don't want to.

The usual practice is to include your name in the difficulty, I.E. "yongtw123's Normal" etc

Yeah, you could take that approach if you want. The other, less desirable option is just to have both approved separately but ideally yes, you should approach the other mapper and offer him/her your difficulty. Might want to make sure everything syncs up beforehand, though (timing points etc).

You can do it if you feel like it. It mainly depends on the amount of difficulties already there, and how difficult your difficulty is. Mainly just ask.

Some people map difficulties for other people's maps, even though they didn't start mapping it themselves. Ask before doing this. There's one guy who did this a couple times for me without asking, and I disapproved of these difficulties so I didn't use them. It's a waste of time on both people's parts, and can be demotivating to the mapper.

I accepted poster's difficulty.
