[resolved] Changing Flag ideas

I recently heard, that changing flags isn't allowed anymore, because someone abused it. I have some ideas to prevent Flag Change Abuse.

Flag Change Ideas

i came up with...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Idea 1: If they want to change their Flag, it'll be expensive (like the name change method).
For Example:
1 Flag Change = free, 2 Flag Changes = 10$, 3 Flag Changes = 30$, 4 Flag Changes =50$, 5 Flag Changes = 80$ and 6+ Flag Changes = 100$.

This would be only accesible for supporters, otherwise it would be chaotic

Idea 2: If they changed their Flag, they can't change it for a year.
After a year is over and they changed their Flag again, it will be expanded to 2 years and so on...

Idea 3: Flag change is only for people who've supported osu! for about a Year or higher
Like people who have 2 or 3 ♥.

Idea 4: Your Playtime should be at least 20 days to get a Flag Change
to verify if you really play osu.

Idea 5: You only can change your flag ONCE (like owning only one Account)

Idea 6: Instead of changing flags manually, it'll change it automaticlly depending on your location. That'll could be also an "update Flag" option (VPNs won't work). idea by Gengar9nn

Yep, that's all what i've came up with. but yeah it would be great if everyone agrees. if you have any feedback or a new feature idea, feel free to tell me. :oops:

The difference between flag changes and username change is that changing username offers no advantages over anything, while flag changes can allow a person to join in certain country's team in a tournament.

That said, there is a major issue with idea 1: Imagine spending $$ to have a better chance at winning $$. Ideas 2,3,4 allowing repeated changes allows people to take advantage of the system as well.

Idea 5 is the only sensible one out of all suggested

Woah, that actually makes sense. My 4 ideas are all repeatable Flag Changes and this doesn't help at all. it just makes more chaos, hence the 5th idea the meaningful one. Thanks for the feedback.:)

one of my ideas on how this could work is: say you moved to a different country but your osu! flag is outdated. so, you would click a button and it would update it with your current location. it would also detect VPNs so you can't cheese the system. also, you could make it only accesible once a year. this is just my idea though.

That's actually a great idea. Instead of changing flags manually, it'll change it automatically. imma add it to the op post

The main issue as to why Flag changes being automatic wouldn't work is because of the country listings.

It would have to be a static, but the option to choose the flag when you create an account where it verifies that you WANT to pick this flag and you will not be able to have a change in the flag later, would solve a lot of issues.
