how old does a thread need to be for new posts to count as a necro?

Usually a month but if a thread is dead for a week and you have nothing interesting to add it's probably necro.

I would say anything more than 3 months is necro, 1-2 month is kinda more of a gray area and really depends on what the subject of the thread was or who posted the necro(could be the op).
