How about patterns accepted, and do they prefer comfortable maps over well-timed ones? And which maps can be ranked easily, what kinds of difficulties can be encountered, how many SVs can be obtained, etc.

Obviously, it's subjective, but I'm curious and Ykwis

- typical length
- how many difficulties?
- do well timed SVs help your beatmap get ranked
- comfortable chart Vs. well timed chart
- which patterns are accepted?
- hitsounds?
- recommanded difficulty ratings
- which type of music?

'not asking for you to tell all of these but. If you can share me with any useful information, I would appreciate it c:

Generally just chart what you want and it should be fine lol. The modding process of ranking is there for that reason specifically, so that your stylized charts can be suitable for ranked. That being said, there's some things to consider more heavily:

You can make your map comfortable and timed well, but always make sure it's timed well. If it's not, no one will mod, nominate, or even play it. As far as the other stuff, difficulties can be single diffs or spreads, but the fewer diffs you have, the easier it will be to rank, as you will need less mods. (spreads need a decent amount of mods on each diff after all.) SVs are acceptable as long as they meet the RC and are actually done well. If you don't know how to make good SVs, you're probably better off not including them or asking for help from specialized modders. Any patterns are accepted as long as they make sense with the music. Avoid ghost notes and keep patterns playable for that skill level. Hitsounds are actually no longer necessary thanks to (not so) recent RC changes, so you can choose whether you want to include them or not. Keep in mind that some modders will not mod hitsounds while others will. (it will also take more time to add all the hitsounds and make a separate hitsound diff so people can look at it).

And as for recommendations; if you're looking to rank a first mapset, go with something on the easier side in a keymode you are comfortable with. Obviously easier maps will be easier to make comfortable and require less mods in total, but just keep in mind the RC and what is allowed in those diffs. The type of music doesn't really matter, but I will say that there are a few BNs out there that are very inclined towards anime/Japanese songs, so that would be a good first try.

Best advice I can give: Map a song you want to see in ranked and map it in a way that you would want to play it and then go through the process like that. Mapping just to get more ranked cred is kinda lame anyways.

Sorry this got really long, but I hope it provides some help!

thanks, I'm just gonna check this through every chart I make, but about ghost notes, can I place ghost note and replace with smooth hitsound that fits with the music?

Yeah you should be able to. Ghost notes aren't fully disallowed, but they should have good justification for doing so (i.e. matching the intensity of a section, making a pattern more comfortable, etc.)

Something 2-5 star range, fun, and tending to be overated in star rating

Stuff like NikoSek's stream maps for Slax stuff (ex: Sugar Loli) or a typical ALEFY map would prob be easy to rank. Jumptrills patterns withstanding, when patterns are easy despite their density, it is fair to say they make intuitive sense. Stuff that is hard despite not having a lot of notes would receive more criticism as people question whether it makes sense since they have trouble playing the patterns.

this but also networking, talk to lots of mappers and try to understand what the community is making and wanting, plus connections make your maps more noticed which helps get bns attention too since they have so many maps to look at

how much time of improving the chart would it take or map to get ranked or loved (assuming it will), and How much effort does a map publisher usually put into getting players' attention in maps?
People will not be able to see your map lot when you're new to mapping

there is no specific amount, some luck is involved in how quick the process is but how good your map is to start is a huge factor.
regardless you'll need to get as many mods on the map as you can esp if you're newer so you'll naturally be getting people's attention while doing that
