are there any recommended CS5+ maps to try out, personally find them fun to play but it's kind of rare to get ranked/loved maps that experiment with it

there're a lot of convert cs5++ that you can try, they're easily accessible via beatmapsets, use search terms like cs>=5
I would suggest you manually edit maps to get them to cs5+.
To edit them you should use osu trainer: https://github.com/FunOrange/osu-trainer/releases
It makes it easy to edit stuff with hotkeys and you can even make multiple presets (CS 5, CS 6, CS 6.5)
