Unscheduled Downtimes to the face

I'm not even going to document the times. I'm not sure of the reason but it seems to be a software or hardware configuration error. I have restored all changes I have made to the server configuration over the last 48 hours in a hope this will help.

Sorry again.

Update: I got a response back from the datacentre techs that the server seems to be tripping a temperature shutdown override. This is being actively investigated. You will be kept updated in this thread.

Update #2: Fan has been remounted and air passages cleaned. Fingers crossed we are in business now. Apologies in advance if things hit the fan again.

I just want to thank you. You've spent a lot of time and effort to keep things going around here, which is why I think I might start donating more often.

Not cool. I get that when running unoptimized software or games combined with environment issues. I can't relate to dust problems. Might want to look into everything else running on the server though. I KNOW Bancho used to have a much better uptime than this so commonquantum sense says Bancho isn't a problem.

I sometimes deal with a temperature interrupt and it's often directly related to an environment issue. I don't want to go on about what I deal with and I don't know what your DC looks like but I hope it doesn't overheat from direct sunlight exposure or something equally stupid. Relaxing strict temp shutdown settings from the BIOS is something you can't really address remotely and it's something that a sane tech isn't about to touch, so I hope this problem doesn't cross into that territory.

Either way thanks for putting in such an insane amount of effort. I've been here long enough to see this project evolve six different ways and I figure I should start helping in some way. I finally have some time(thank God) so I'll figure out something. <3

The cause of the problem was already resolved - the SSD installed was blocking airflow.

Huh. It wasn't mounted in the same place as the old HDD?

It was in addition to the two HDDs in there. I am using all three currently.

Must be some hardcore rig you've got there for one little partial obstruction to tip it over the edge. :D

You should consider liquid nitrogen cooling.

Oh the irony

LN2 cooling is so ungodly expensive that most people would readily piss gold filament before they'd be able to support the maintenance costs of running a server box on the stuff.

Come to think of it, have you ever officially released Bancho's outfit or is it sekrit business?

Bancho is a piece of software.

The osu! server is 1RU and contains:
q6600 2.4ghz
4gb ram
2x 320gb HDD
32gb SSD (intel E series)
100mbit dedicated

...oh, I thought the downtime was because of score resetting already lol o_o
