I don't think we should have to manually rename the mp3 or edit the .osu to reflect a mp3 name change. It would be a lot more helpful if we can make this change through the editor itself.

Yes. This happens often enough to warrant such a change.

Oh man this happens often indeed.
I suggest it uses the same behaviour as dragging a background in the editor. You drag an mp3 in there and it asks you if this will be the mp3 you want to use for your map.

Yes please.
It will also make multi-MP3 mapsets easier to make.
