Can I post a map that borrowed timing points from someone else's?

Hi guys, I'm making a map for a song that I really love -- Particle Arts by Virtual Self. I just finished it actually and was hoping to upload for a chance of people seeing it! However, I'm worried that it may be considered an invalid submission because I didn't do 100% of the work myself, with the 5% of work that I didn't do being the timing points.

The reason I was putting off making a map for this song was because the tempo gently fluxuates between 162 and 175 throughout the map. I eventually found a beatmap of this song that already existed, but it was much different than how I would have made it. So, I downloaded it and deleted everything in the file except for the timing points, so that I could map the song without having to worry about matching the changing tempo.

What should I do now? Do I just post it and credit the original mapper in the description? Am I even allowed to post this? Thank you so much for reading.

wrong timing is an objective issue, unlike actual mapping which most of the times comes down to subjectivity. you can take the timing, but you should credit the person who did the timing, especially if it's complex timing

it's actually a good idea to use timing from a ranked set of the map you are mapping if there is one available. if there isn't one available you should probably credit them, especially if it's complex timing like aiq stated
