So, I had this idea in mind...or likely I thought of it while reading one of those mass posts about playing osu! local with friends and adding x complicated features/changes for that.
But, I think it would be best that this mode would be unranked or just...let's say: It won't submit scores.
Why? More players on one machine, logging in and off would be a pain, also not that secure (passwords and stuff). Also, I think it would be best if submitting to local scoreboards would be disabled then as well. This likely could end up in flooding the scoreboard with a ton of scores.
My idea would be that the player could choose something like a checkbox or dropdown to switch gamemodes (in this case 'Arcade/Online' for standard stuff and 'Hot-Seat (x players)' (maximum would be 4)).
After each round of playing the players would enter their names (like when not logged in) and when everyone finished (or failed) playing, a Ranking-screen would come up. Like from normal Multiplayer-games.
Like I said above, this won't solve any other issues with playing in a network or simultaneously on one system, but better than nothing.
Hot-Seat Mode
Some of you surely know games like 'Heroes of Might and Magic' and tons of others which have a feature called Hot-Seat gameplay. This is nothing special, it just allows more players on one machine. Not simultaneously, but one after another. I think this won't fulfill the requests of some other users, but it would add a kind-of competetive (and visual) aspect to playing on one machine. But, I think it would be best that this mode would be unranked or just...let's say: It won't submit scores.
