Why are speed maps so hard?

I used to play all kinds of patterns like stamina(hs,js), chordjack, speed and so on, and now I can play stamina map at 220 to 250 bpm(depending on the specific pattern) and chordjack at 130 to 145 bpm(96% in beta jackmap), but I can hardly get 96% in the speed map of the 9th dan(I have clear reform 10th dan 7 months ago). I used to believe that practice will be a good choice, but even I play a lot speed maps I can't see any progress, while I achieve obvious progress when I practice stamina or chordjack for days or weeks. I find it hard to read speed maps and I feel my fingers can't move that fast. So what actually makes speed maps so difficult and how to get improved effectively?

i'm not an expert when it comes to this but i've personally found average speed charts to be generally very unhelpful and unfun because of the lack of anchors allowing for a crutch for unintentional manip and ends up being more of a stamina chart instead
if speed charts aren't helping you get better at speed, have you considered diverting into playing more technical charts around your skill level? even technical dumpstream is more than fine. don't just play dan tech btw
tech covers all sorts of skillsets but speedy streams & speedjack is definitely the most prominent and may help you out in the long run, especially if you have good stamina--at least, it did so for me when both my jack and stream speed was both lacking compared to my js and hs stamina, now it's the opposite lol

It's proably because of pattern readbility and stamina, i recommend you to practice easier / around your level fast streams, dumpstreams, let along the manip

raw speed files are almost entirely a reading skill but it's capped out by how well you can one hand trill, for exmaple you can't control 300bpm streams unless you can one hand trill 150 effectively. i'm guessing you can do the physical aspect of it since you're so good at jacks? i'd suggest checking out a huge variety of speed files from different people and don't be afraid of more technical "weird" stuff. the best way to work on speed and make sure you're not manipulating and forming bad habits is by trying to get a 99% and if you can only then put it up a rate because it's extremely easy to just mash a low S on these types of files.

raw speed would be more like : beatmapsets/1668440

and more technical based speed would be more like: beatmapsets/1685044
