[resolved] osu! won't update or log me in on Windows 8

I just bought a brand new computer preinstalled with Windows 8. (HP TouchSmart All-In-One 23-d027) When I run osu! on the computer, I am prompted to log in and I see "Downloading (insert update here) - 0%". I enter my credentials and it says "Connecting". The game doesn't freeze, but it gets stuck. osu!me can't do anything either.

What do?

I had this problem when I first installed osu on my win8 also.

Just set compatibility to Windows 7 and Always Run as Admin

Could the servers be overloaded? I haven't had any trouble logging into osu! with any version of Windows 8 and 8.1 in the past, but today I can't log in at all.

Working now. I just had to wait, like, 10 minutes for the updates to start installing, then the game logged me in.
