Post written with reference to the Top 10 Malaysian osu! Players post, shoutouts to My Angel Petra and Its not Marvin!

1. You may ONLY vote for the 37 Shortlisted Players provided in the link above. Any other votes will not be counted.
Shortlist Criteria
Shortlisted players were selected based on the following criteria:

  • i. Minimum 5000pp

    ii. Notable pp increments within the year OR Participated in any tournaments within the year

2. Voters must have an osu! account that was made before the 1st of November 2021.

3. You may not vote for yourself.

4. Players from all countries are welcomed to vote.

5. Your votes may be changed throughout the entirety of the voting phase (using the edit function).
> Votes edited after the deadline will be voided

6. It is recommended to include a short comment/reasoning for each player that you voted for.

7. Please only vote based on the player's TAIKO PLAYING SKILLS throughout the year of 2021 and not based on anything else (mapping/contribution/popularity)

8. You must vote for AT LEAST 7 players.

9. Votes will only be accepted via replies to this forum post using the format as described below.

All votes must STRICTLY follow the format below:

  • <start:your username>
    <1:player>
    <2:player>
    <3:player>
    <4:player>
    <5:>
    <6:>
    <7:>
    <8:>
    <9:>
    <10:>
    <end>
Here is an example of a valid vote:

Comments for each player must be outside their respective brackets.
Honourable mentions must be below <end>, they will not be counted into the voting.

#10 gets 1 point, #9 gets 2 points, and so on

One set of the highest and lowest point for every player will be removed.
i.e. If Player A gets a tally of 1-5-5-3-1-9-10-10, one each of the 1 & 10 point votes are removed, leaving 1-5-5-3-9-10.
This is to enhance accuracy of the results and to discourage "boosting" votes.

The total vote tallies are then summed up to determine the final Top 10 rankings.

In cases where less than 10 players are voted for, the last place will get 1 point with the rest raised accordingly.
e.g. If a player votes for 8 players the #1 players will get 8 points, #2 will get 7, etc.

Votings will close on 23rd Jan 2022, 23:59 UTC+8

<start:Finana Ryugu>
<1:6gicha> when it comes to 2021's performance, mugi is undoubtedly far and above anyone else in Malaysia right now, setting some of the most impressive score that the local taiko scene has ever seen, especially near the year's end. a player with seemingly no skill ceiling whatsoever, and excels in everything the game has to offer (most notably hdhr, hd only, tech and speed). do not sleep on mugi, he definitely deserves all the spotlight for the score he has done in this year, and god knows where he would end up with his improvement not slowing down from what i have seen.
<2:Jerry> having a comeback during the 2nd half of 2021, jerry has seen an unprecedented improvement in almost every skillset imaginable, particularly hr. being the country's designated hr carry, his hr skills has seen an insane growth after the comeback, being able to read 250+ hr with ease and pushing the limits with some 300+ hr passes, flooring everyone in the hr reading skills in malaysia, not to mention his impeccable burst speed limit aswell, reaching upwards of 340+. definitely a force to be reckon with, especially in a tournament setting.
<3:HHVanilla Ice> one of, if not the most active tournament player in malaysia with some of the most well rounded skillsets the country has to offer. with specialization on hd and gimmickier maps, he is the wildcard/underdog for any team tournaments and will definitely come as a surprise to many just how well he can perform in any tournament circumstances.
<4:CrabCow> while not being the highest in skill ceiling, crab has seen the most improvement out of any players in malaysia, especially during the 2nd half of 2021, most notably speed related skillsets (both in reading high sv/bpm hr and playing high bpm burst) and tech. with some more practice he's definitely worthy on standing alongside the giants of the malaysia taiko scene and bring a lot of much needed skillsets to any team he joins in a tournament setting.
<5:JyaKeii> while his activity has dipped in the later of 2021, their performance in the first half of the year still lands them a spot within this list, as they are another all rounded player that would come as a threat to anyone that plays the tournament against them. if only they stopped memeing so much in tournaments :lmaoooooooooo:
<6:htd_hsk_> debuted in the local scene in o!tmt2021, they have definitely shown a lot of potential within the game, especially in raw accuracy in some trickier maps and some pretty amazing tech skills in their rank range. looking forward to more of their performance in the future because they are very much ready to shake up the tournament scene and became one of the more feared players in any tournaments.
<7:limchiasiang> another player that has debuted in o!tmt2021 and just floored everyone with their ability to acc almost anything imaginable. being a veteran arcade player, it would be amazing to see them start transferring their skills into here and pop off, that would be an improvement arc that i immensely looking forward to.
<8:K0rd31HP> while their tournament performance is a mystery, they have proven themselves worthy on this list by setting some really scary speed related scores in ranked maps that i see pretty much nobody in his rank range would be able to rival against. looking forward to their tournament debut and see what more they can bring up to the table.
<9:ling99> while being the player with arguably the lowest skill ceiling within the list, their dedication to score farming and playing literally anything and everything in the ranked section lands themselves onto this list. with this advantage in hand they are able to polish virtually any skillset and becoming a well rounded player, giving them an edge in a tournament setting. once again, looking forward to their tournament debut.
<10:cdh> cdh down horrendous :YEP:
<end>

notable mentions :
> Xeltic Rival - while he would be top 3 in the list, unfortunately he is not shortlisted due to inactivity in the game. however i still want to shoutout to him, who was once the best player in malaysia and imo still one of the best even after 4 years since his reign of malaysia's leaderboard has ended. with the dedication that is unrivaled by anyone else within the scene, he was, and still is kicking ass on some of the most unexpected maps during tournaments, and is definitely one of the scariest malaysian player that has ever graced the tournament scene.

<1:Finana Ryugu> Ultimate consistency. Check. Amazing skills. Check. High-quality mapping. Check. All Perfect. Throughout this year, he has set multiple epic scores which are jaw-dropping such as Replica[+HD], The Words I Never Said(short ver.)[+DT], STRONG 280, and Ignite. At the same time, this DT master has been improving a lot in speed bursts, mods, and sv reading like Ricky Bobby and SIVA, I have no idea how he can analyze those notes in a short period. Besides having cracked performance, I believe a lot of osu!taiko players have noticed about the completion of his 10k FC journey a few months ago, truly amazing.
<2:Jerry> If you are talking about a Malaysian taiko player with insane HR reading and DT/DTHD/DTHR skill, Jerry is the perfect example of it. Back in TWC2021, he has performed extremely well and had almost no blunders, especially on DT and HR maps. Though he had a break from playing maps after the tournament, this doesn't stop him from breaking his limit. During fall he began polishing his mods skills, then acquiring "Speed Meijin" title in Taiko Skill Rating 2 (players are required to pass 20 Meijin-levelled speed maps to get the title above, which the speed maps are between 7.5*~8.0*, really deadly). He is now able to read even higher bpm with HR/DTHR, hitting >300 bpm DT consistently and also, playing finger-breaking stream maps without any problem.
<3:HHVanilla Ice> One of the most active tournament player I've seen recently. From handling slow sv notes and NM maps to bashing high sv notes and HDHR-ing FM maps, he has quite a balanced skill while maintaining great accuracy on almost every single map, leaving impressive scores in many tournaments, including GTS and OTMT2021. Besides, several ranked scores made by him are epic as well, as he can handle 1/4 streams and 1/6 notes while keeping an average accuracy of more than 99%, even with mods.
<4:CrabCow> In the osu!taiko Malaysian community, he is often called "CrackCow", "CrabHow" or "CrackHow". But why? That's because this exactly implies their cracked osu!taiko performance, such as the OTMT Grand Finals tiebreaker, he can handle various snaps with sv change and >200 bpm 1/4+1/6 streams, while having huge improvements in speed bursts and tech throughout this year.
<5:Jyakeii> Another fast-growing Malaysian player which has become active recently in taiko tournaments, his skill at every mod is strong enough to sweep off lots of other taiko players, which is scary. Especially during this year's AGTS tournament, Jyakeii and his teammates have destroyed several teams with having strong players, succeeded to be on the podium. Looking forward to Jyakeii's brushing up on taiko skills and popping off in the incoming tournaments.
<6:htd_hsk> Been seeing htd_hsk in the osu!taiko tournaments quite a while ago(and including OTMT), they can maintain high accuracy and low unstable rate while playing the maps, especially those with techy patterns and some that requires high consistency. Also aware of htd's speedy improvement on pure NM reading and handling some long maps with numerous kinds of snaps/patterns without any doubt.
<7:cdh> When there are taiko maps with unusual notes snaps, super high bpm, or maybe with extremely low/high sv and gimmicks, I'm sure that a lot of people will struggle in both reading and hitting them, but not for cdh. Although having slightly low accuracy for most of the time, cdh's epic reading skill is still strong enough to handle those maps, no matter how hard the maps are. Scores like four veiled stars, Necrophagiatoast and Koe are some good examples to prove his powerful reading ability.
<8:HenNEET> Becoming active again in the taiko scene since the beginning of this year, HenNEET has been polishing his skills day by day and slowly getting used to higher bpm. Besides, he also made several good results in the past tournaments, especially in NM, HD, and DT. Excited to see his future performance in the taiko tourneys.
<9:K0rd31HP> Not sure if K0rd31HP has taken part in any of the taiko tournaments, but they have made multiple scores on the leaderboard that are outstanding, such as We Could Get More Machinegun Psystyle! (And More Genre Switches) and Doppelganger[TAIKO-HOLIC], it is rare to see players in his rank range to have enough speed, stamina, and consistency to play high bpm maps(or maps that are rated between 7*~8*) with low miss count.
<10:Bedwyr Aorta> Severely underrated taiko player who probably has the most tournament experience among the top players in Malaysia. Everything is balanced and normal but when it comes to HR, Bedwyr becomes unstoppable and knocks down opponents one by one as he performs well and sets multiple crazy scores.
<end>

Honorable mentions:
Xeltic Rival: One of the taiko players that I respect the most, Xeltic is talented in HD/HDHR and also has super scary HR reading ability, as he can play HR with near-flawless and high accuracy. Xeltic can even read up to 240 bpm(TWC2021 Quarterfinals HR1) which is ridiculously difficult to read whether it is time to hit red or blue.

<1:6gicha> how the hell is he still 3 digits
<2:Finana Ryugu> glub glub fish vtuber also how the hell is he also 3 digits
<3:Jerry> While mugi and zeth are capable of playing maps that require even more insane technical skill or stamina, Jerry really is the only player that makes me go ???? when watching him play. Having set plays in the year like Inai Sekai HR FC and several BPM300+ HR passes, Jerry is absolutely undhsafkable in Malaysia especially in speed reading.
<4:HHVanilla Ice> Dude started out the year being a specialist player for Malaysia's 3TWC and has just gotten better at a insane rate ever since. Being voted as the captain of the AGTS All Star team and winning OTMT, it's safe to say Vanilla has been one of the top in Malaysia in terms of tourney performance.
<5:CrabCow> With his insane movement ability and quick reaction times, CrabCow is able to absolutely dominate others especially in gamemodes such as stick tag, hence he definitely belongs in the top 10 Crab Game players in t-
uh
good acc fast speed consistency good taiko pro
<6:JyaKeii> Having played with him in AGTS he is honestly extremely well rounded as a Taiko player and hence extremely valuable in tournaments. He has shown to be able to play cover all sorts of relatively niche skillsets such as speed HR and slow HD and i'm interested to see where he goes from here.
<7:vun> Him being below 1k should be a criminal offense. Being able to comfortably FC 7 star tech maps and just slapping HDHR on every tourney freemod pick he sees with decent accuracy I really think the 1 at the start of his rank is an accident.
<8:htd_hsk_> Also a frequent tourney player. His performance in tourneys such as Suiji and OTMT has shown that he either doesn't have nerves or can just flat out ignore it because he is extremely consistent in every pick he is able to perform on and often times can hang on against higher ranked players as a result.
<9:HenNEET> Also a very consistent player in tournaments and being one of the top players in the country in terms of stamina, I'm looking forward to seeing what more can he achieve in the future years since it already seems like he's been picking up high BPM dense HD reading at the start of the year
<10:Bedwyr Aorta> Tourney god actual respect player for his grindset
<end>

Honorable mentions:
<Xelti Crival> honestly would probably put him at around #3 if hes eligible for the voting. insane tourney player and did a huge amount of heavy lifting on tournaments in the earlier part of the year during TWC and 3TWC. Dude doesn't rust and is still prob one of the best HDHR players in the world outside of nippon

CrabCow
<start:CrabCow>
<1:6gicha> The prodigy of Malaysia's taiko scene, Mugi has set most of their top plays in 2021 and continues to improve even further. He is one of the most versatile players in terms of skillset and mods with an insanely high skill ceiling. I look forward to how much more he can improve and impress us with his skills.
<2:Jerry> Jerry has made an impressive comeback in the later half of 2021, he was one of my inspirations to getting better at HR and his skillsets of HR, DT and speed bursts never fails to impress. It has been a pleasure seeing his improvement ever since our first interaction in 2021 in CGTS. Some notable and insane scores he has set this year are Fallen Angel DT FC, GHOST DT FC, Buriki no Dance 99.5% DT FC, and insane scores on the new Galaxy Collapse map and Strong 280.
<3:[Zeth]> I have always been impressed at Zeth's stamina ability and how he crushes through 7*+ stamina/stream metal maps, he has also achieved his 10,000 FCs this year which is an amazing feat displaying his determination. As a player who has lower stamina, sometimes I get incredibly surprised looking at the scores that Zeth's sets on stamina based maps such as Ne Obliviscaris - Saturnine Spheres, Strong 280, IGNITE etc.
<4:HHVanilla Ice> The captain of the AGTS 2021 team and the winner of OTMT 2021, Vanilla has shown amazing consistency in almost every aspect with his skills with his only slightly weaker aspect being high speed. This gimmick master has proved time and time again that he is an incredibly versatile player with insane accuracy. Going up against him in OTMT Finals and Grand Finals reminded me of the reasons why he was such a force to be reckoned with.
<5:JyaKeii> Jyakeii is yet another player who is seemingly incredibly versatile at every skill aspect and his skill set of speed maps are truly terrifying. Being able to single-digit 100s FC virtually almost any tournament speed map thrown at him is an astounding feat. His consistency on HR and ability to hit 1/6 bursts is also a force to be reckoned with, he is one of those players who can randomly pop off in tournaments and completely change the tides of the situation.
<6:htd_hsk_> htd_hsk_ has shown great improvement in 2021 and they have proven to be an amazingly stable player who's able to maintain high accuracies on techy maps. Especially in the later half of 2021 after OTMT, they have set many impressive 330+ pp plays such as Bassdrop Freaks, Shinbatsu o Tadori Kyoukotsu ni Itaru, Colorful, Dreadnought etc with ridiculously high accuracies.
<7:vun> the famed ddkk player of Malaysia who has a terrifyingly high skill ceiling on tech and being able to comfortably double mod maps in tournaments. They have set a very impressive 400pp play FC of Koe by Feryquitous feat. Sennzai while still being a four digit which is a bruh moment.
<8:cdh> Our slow hd and gimmick carry of AGTS orz, cdh is able to play some of the hardest high bpm alt maps and tech maps such as Necrophagiatoast, Magical Sanctuary, Koe, Camellia - Speedrun which is truly impressive. His only slight weakness is his accuracy and if we will ever see the day of a cdh accuracy redemption character arc he would truly be an unstoppable force.
<9:Fury Dragon> Not much is known about Fury Dragon but his tech and hd skillset on certain maps are truly impressive, one score of his that amazes me is his 42xmiss on the 7* map TWISTSTEP (Zekk remix) which has very non-linear, offhand bursty 1/4+1/6s.
<10:HenNEET> HenNEET has shown remarkable improvement in HD and DT throughout 2021, setting many of his top plays with high accuracies and consistencies. he also participated in AGTS and RGTS which further honed his skills, if he is able to improve on his tech abilities, he would be able to break the wall of progress and improve tremendously.
<end>

Honourable Mentions:
a piece of - uprising young player with impressive stamina and ability to stream as well as HD, looking forward to more of their tournament participation and how they can manage.
Ping7731 - The speed demon, likewise with cdh I hope to be able to see an accuracy redemption character arc and Ping will truly be an exceptional force especially with his expertise in stamina, speed, tech and HD.
K0rd31HP - The mysterious highly skilled player who has set some mindblowing scores this year, I look forward to more of their tournament participation and their abilities in tech and stamina.
ling99 - a relatively new player in the taiko scene but their dedication towards score farming and consistency / HD expertise is commendable, I hope they keep up and continue improving!

yo not gonna lie i was like half rushing doing these comments so im sorry if they're phrased badly and sound scuffed ;-; but I think my point gets across well enough :p
