Redline The disappearance~ Wolf children Gonna hold slots for S;G and Iroha until I actually watch them for my top 5. if they suck: Girl who leapt~ Fade to black (bleach)
Forgot to mention kara no kyoukai, but I'm on the 6th movie atm so I can't rate it yet but it is really good.
Tenkuu no Shiro Laputa (Laputa: Castle In The Sky) Byousoku 5 Centimeter (5 Centimeters Per Second) Mimi wo Sumaseba (Whisper of the Heart) Majo no Takkyubin (Kiki's Delivery Service) Hotaru no Haka (Grave of The Fireflies) Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time)
I finished the Kara no Kyoukai movies and I have to say that I did not like it as much as I expected. Although the 7th one is good and the 5th. 6th ruined it all. A bit overrated, for me.
Don't really see how standalone Japanese animated movies have been listed here, since they have no anime series lols. I would have said wolf children and the cat returns. But anime movie, it would be the Madoka movies.
Helping wherever I can for those who ask I've made a Discord sever for Doujin Music album releases. Join here I am keen to map dark/creepy/horror/deep meaning Vocaloid songs. Suggest to me any if I missed out any!
According to wiktionary, anime refers to "An animated work originated in Japan, regardless of the artistic style." Thus, standalone movies are anime movies as well.
@topic: Mononoke Hime, which I have rewatched easily over 20 times so far.
That would be The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, I guess. More or less closely followed by - Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone, - Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, - 5 Centimeters per Second, and - The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.
They are all pretty great, so I can't really define a ranking. Haruhi is #1 though. :3
- The Secret World of Arrietty - Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below - 5 centimeters per second - Detective Conan (prefer 1997-2003's) - Pokemon - Kureyon Shin-chan
the one with that little girl who meets that guy with white hair in the mountains who's a spirit. and they play every summer. ending was most sad, i cried.
