Are nominations necessary to get my map ranked?

If no, how do I get my map ranked without nominations?

If yes, how do I get nominations to my map?

Not necessary, but mandatory.

You'll have to find 2 BNs that are willing to nominate and push your map further. You can check out this site to see which one is active. Some BNs may only accept requests via a global queue, which the Mod Request page on the site earlier would be the one you'd be looking for.
