I think the scoreboard in Singleplayer mode should show the top 4 players and #50, instead of the #1 and 47-50, this way the actually good players get more fame than the lousy ~50 ranks, because now the ~50 players seem like the better players.

Rank is the closest thing to fame on this game. It doesn't matter what scores you get. If you have a good rank you will be recognized.
I don't pay any attention to the scoreboard in-game since I turn it off and I'm in concentration mode. The real score board is all that really matters in my opinion, and it's much easier to pick people out in it because it also displays avatars.

It's incredibly contradictory asking to change it when you don't even use it. Leave it as is since that's more beneficial for those who do.
I'd rather this not happen. The bottom end of the scoreboard contains more realistic scores than the top values. It is more beneficial to focus on the bottom scores before trying to beat the top scores.
I agree with this suggestion, showing #1-#4 and #50 would make way more sense. You are still "climbing" the ranking even with only one bottom score shown. I am playing with scoreboard on btw and I'd really like to see this.
I like climbing more than "here's all the scores you're probably never going to hit for 6 more months' being displayed.
That wouldn't really work. Assume you overtake #50, then what? The scoreboard will show #1-#4 and then you. Raise a few more ranks but there's nothing displayed that you could surpass. It would still need to be at least #1-#3 and #49-#50, which would look really stupid and make little sense.
Also, as mentioned before, people rarely look at the ingame leaderboards if they want to see who is in the lead, the out-of-game scoreboards already give plenty of exposure to the top scorers.
