Capcom announced a new iteration to Street Fighter IV at EVO 2013~
Set to be released early 2014, it will include 5 new characters (the 4 non-SF Capcom characters from Street Fighter X Tekken and one new mystery fighter), a couple of new stages, new modes and balance changes suggested by the community (cue silly picture of Combofiend).

Really?

Ultra Mega Amazing Super Street Fighter IV EXTREME Ultra 3D GX Pro Z4. It's coming out in 2015.
Magicphoenix
R u kidding me? When has Street Fighter ever used more than 1 word before its name?
+ They bring in new characters, including SFxT chars and will most probably include many balancing patches and other awesome stuff (even a completely new char apparently lol)

And you bitch about "Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition" becoming "Ultra Street Fighter IV", claiming the further sequels are gonna become ridiculously long names because they changed 1 word haha
Yes, I'm butthurt much, because casuals (or not even that) who haven't even really looked much into it just should stop flaming the awesome stuff Capcom is gonna bring

Whoa calm down it seemed like a relatively benign joke ._.

that's literally all they do to the titles of the upcoming games

add something that's relatively similar to the word 'big'

also i'm prepared to play it, seeing as how I used to be hooked to the previous Street Fighter games

I think you should probably take a step back, maybe think and ask yourself, "was this rant worth it?"

It was a joke. A jest. A jibe. If you can't handle the possibility that people may think and act differently from yourself, you should probably leave the internet.
Magicphoenix
Jokes don't transfer well over the internet.
How was I supposed to think that was a joke anyway? It just really seemed like a post of a person who doesn't know anything about it and wanted to bash on it.
I apologize if that was the case though.

I think the title is actually quite restrained for Capcom actually.
Ultra was kinda the obvious progression from Super (Super Combo -> Ultra Combo)

Nerf Akuma and Cammy pls~

I guess this will bring more players online, now there only seems to be the same people I've seen since SFIV + some randoms who got the game from their friends and suck at it...

Really looking forward to this.

Funny you should mention that, since those two are the characters specifically mentioned to be nerfed already lol
Though I do feel kinda bad for Akuma, at this rate he'll turn into Phoenix.
VoidnOwO
Not a surprise really, those two are currently the 'best' characters. One could disagree though, but generally speaking.
Quaraezha
PRETTY SURE THE 5TH CHARACTER IS DAIGO
HAR HAR HAR HAR

But crazy guesses aside, it could be either Mike Haggar or Urien.
It's either that or some character from another Capcom game.

Characters that are discomfirmed by Capcom: Asura, BBA Megaman

Ooh look HQ screenshots and previews: http://shoryuken.com/2013/07/15/capcom- ... -and-more/

Cammy isn't that good at all! I'd say nerf C. Viper. That woman is on steroids or something.

Personally I'd say Viper has very high learning curve to balance her out. Her power is in the Burn Kick crossups, ability to SJC, powerful juggles and that her moves give high stun :P
Plus her stamina is very low, and she's very easily killed.

Cammy on the other hand can be considered easier to play (like Yun, basically), she has stupidly powerful rushdown and her DP has massive range, and she walks/backdashes very fast (her normals and throw range are her weak point). Plus because of her playstyle she builds meter stupidly fast as well :P
Magicphoenix
Gayest char is still Akuma though :(
Besides his lowered hp, everything is too strong

Uhh also, anybody seen EVO I hope? Focus Attack Balrog next level moves

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition was a really strong game in competitive scene, in fact, the whole franchise (the popular ones, not the EX series etc.) was more aimed for the most casual players and I personally think the "Ultra" self proclaimed DLC is an overpriced 4 SFxT Models smacked into SSFIV:AC with balancing and probably new stages.
Roughly translated, it's like Super Street Fighter IV to the upgraded Arcade Edition all over again.

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition;
4 "new" characters (in fact actually 1 and that was Oni) and some balance settings thrown onto the disk.

Ultra Street Fighter IV;
5(!!!) "new" characters (the 5th not announced yet but I really hope it's Urien :v) and some balancing out some characters on the roster.

The "Super" add-on of the game was IMO the most technical addition to the game itself. Even though it brought in a lot of characters that came from past SF games. At least, all of the models were made from scratch.

Eitherways, I think they'll leave the roster how it is and pump up some of the more "unplayed" characters. I know every character is unique but some just fall off the list and aren't even worth playing due to their utility not being on par of +C and above classified tier and their bad matchups against most of the cast. (I'm not following tiers, it's just that they are partially right when it comes to comparisson to others similar playstyled chars)

PS: I love Boxer due to his rushdowns and quick switch from defensive to offensive gameplay. Maybe because I was used of playing Urien when I started playing 3rd Strike back then... but I like him probably because of his constant TTH juggles and midscreen unblockable aegis :D (man I just love naked men who can turn themselves into whatever color they like. while wearing a loincloth)

PR Rog is strong I have to admit but I think Rog got lucky that Infiltration tried to grab him at that range + goukis stun tenacity is poor as hell, if he'd kara throw though, Rog would've probably lost that round. Though, good read by Rog.
Ekaru
Sakura to top tier please.

For future reference, if you read something stupid in the Video Games forum here and it's outside of the Pokemon thread then assume that the person in question is joking and you should be fine. :O

Akuma is always OP, no matter what game he's in. He's stupid crazy in the Dreamcast versions of Street Fighter to the point where it's unbelievable.

To be more on the competitive scene, Akuma was and is BANNED in all real (major) tournaments in Super Street Fighter II HD Remix.
Why? Insane stun combos, annoying air-fireball blockstun that renders you open like a book for throws, crossups and unexpected overheads... and ofc his SGS.
Damn, that awakens in all players who fight against him... a TRUE raging demon. haha...

But unless that, Akuma is fairly balanced. If you of course, know how to deal with him... e.g.: All players who defeated high-level akumas.
And by any means, Capcom already nerfed him so much throughout the SFIV-era that there's almost nothing left to nerf.

Check out だんひる, ジュソ and うりょ if you have the time.
Those are the Top 3 players in Japan and the best Sakuras I've ever seen.

He still doesn't look nerfed to me, strangely enough. Of course it's understandable that he's banned during tournies and such. I don't know but I'm more of Sagat player. <3
NotEvenDoomMusic
Well for people who are curious about how "exactly" Akuma got nerfed, here are some rough informations gathered but not all included throughout the SFIV timeline.

Super Street Fighter IV
  • » EX Dragon Punch damage reduced.
» May have slower walk speed. Akuma was tied for fastest walk speed in the game in SSF4
» Air Hurricane Kicks are no longer as effective for escaping bad situations. If these are done in the air before hitting the peak of the jump, they’ll become floaty and go nowhere. If you’re at the peak of the jump or on your way down, they work pretty much the same. Crossing up with a Hurricane Kick still works, though
» s.HK got an additional startup-frame to deny s.HK xx s.LP loop (<- not sure if changed in SSFIV but can confirm that it's true)
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition
  • » Air tatsu's jump arc is changed, so running away with tatsu is impossible.
» EX Tatsu's damage and stun build got reduced.
Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition v.2013
  • » Demon Flip (SRK+K): Move properties have been changed so that it is no longer an overhead. The move can now be blocked crouching.
» Goshoha (neutral forward throw): Recovery has been increased by 2 frames.
... and probably many, many more. but like I said before. It's only a rough note.
and anyways, here are the weaknesses for Akuma if you've never heard of Eventhub (quite reliable source but not 100% accurate, relying on your own experience against any matchup is advised)

Weaknesses
- Small room for error with low stamina and stun.
- Has very few reliable ground normals for poking.
- Ground fireball is not suited for zoning.
- Neutral jump normals are not good for air-to-ground counters.
- Requires extremely good spacing in order to maximize his approach options.
- source Eventhub

so... now please stop making akuma look like he's the most broken character since HDR ;_;'

Sorry guys, Haggar's discomfirmed.
It's probably either a God Hand or Remember Me character :P
(secretly hoping for Breath of Fire)

uryo Sakura fkin beast :D my hero
But wow, I never knew dunhiller was #1 on Sakura. I've looked for the #1 for a long time now, finally found him :) ty
Does he not participate in tournaments? I think I haven't even seen him on God's Garden or anywhere else
ed: Though I think there's quite a good chance that it's already switched by now x_x

Funfact; actually dunhiller is top with Sakura AND was known for his Gen before Xian rolled in and beat the crap out of him :3 (actually, skillwise)
and, no. dunhiller only visits local arcades to attend on local tournaments. I don't think he participate on GODSGARDEN, he rather play endless on XBL or ranked.

Uryo on the other hand (and #3 in japan) is full onto that competitive brawling. He attended at GODSGARDEN and EVO12. He also plays in some major japanese tournaments.

Juso (#2 in japan) is a mix between both. He plays online as well as in some minor/major japanese tournaments (such as Topanga and Nagoya related stuff). But doesn't play at the EVO championship, just like dunhiller.

Also, dunhiller sometimes is written danhiru for obvious reasons... if you do not find too many footage of him, try to put danhiru into the search queue instead :u
Magicphoenix
Too bad uryo lost to gamerbee and Laugh in EVO this year T T
He was definitely a top 8 candidate though :/
NotEvenDoomMusic
That definitely, is true.

I would like to see soooo many players getting a chance playing at EVO so that their popularity is getting boosted.
But at least, I'm happy to see that Street Fighter isn't all about powerful shoto-zoning as it was in vanilla and more about variety and bringing your own playstyle into the game.

At one point, it really was annoying to see Yuns all over the place (pre v.2013) and even Daigo hopping into the bandwagon because everyone knew that his potential and moveset just makes him god tier.

But lets just hope Elena, Hugo, Rolento and Poison fills in the role well aswell and not get forgotten like any non-played characters.

also, the best akumas I know besides Infiltration is -6, Tokido and JR Rodriguez
Though, JR Rodriguez got kicked out in this years EVO pretty quickly, but damn, he had to fight against Daigo who actually got taught by Tokido (also on of th on how to play Akuma back in NSB (Nagoya Street Battle).
So Daigo actually knew how to deal with Akuma due to him having a clue how Akuma works and how to best counterplay him. (and that's why he was hoping to play against Infiltration since he'd be having a huge chance winning against him but got matched up against PR Rog instead).
But yeah, JR is known for his too agressive playstyle. He loses automatically when you know you got him cornered and that he is forced to play more defensive.
PS: His youtube channel is PIKACHUAKUMA and he always reply his fans and viewers with capslock. lols.

-6 is just pure carnage. His Akuma is way beyond beastmode. Damn, pure respect to that dude.
He's actually one of those people I want to see having an debut at EVO.

and Tokido is Tokido. Though, he falls a bit short compared to some of the better known Akumas he's still great with Akuma.

EDIT: It seems like the thread is walking to the more "general" and "competitive" talk throughout the SFIV universe, gomen to the OP :D
Didn't meant to drift it so far away from it... but yeah. Though, it seems like all this keeps the conversation alive, at least.
Most peoples opinion would be that USFIV is either a must buy or an overpriced DLC to rip off the money of the franchises fans... but yeah. That's just me :c

I just bought a Soul Calibur one since it was the only one available in local stores (verkkokauppa, Mianki). It's pretty terrible for SF though, please let me know if you manage to find a better one.

Played SF and MK9 with it a year or so and went back to using ps3 controllers' D-pad :/

Yeah, you can't find even that now.

There are some news out there regarding the balance patch already, here's all I've gathered:

Akuma <- Oh, that makes those people who hates him happy, isn't it?
  • » Akuma has increased recovery on jump back air Hadouken.
» Can not FADC Shoryuken on 2nd hit.
» Can no longer option select crouching Heavy Kick into Ultra 1.
Dhalsim
  • » Dhalsim damage increase (reverted back to Super Street Fighter 4 damage output).
» EX Yoga Blast does not produce hard knockdown.
Whoa whoa whoa, wait wat...
They increased Dhalsims damage output? I mean he's such a gimp character already, all you do is to play defensive and do one of those things:
s.HP on a safe distance (only people who actually know the matchup against sim know how to react... and your reaction time has to be good to pull off a SRK to hit him with that)
s.HK when people try to jump over your projectiles
j.HP to make distance and interrupt any rushdowns, also noted that it's an overhead. (hit crouching enemies)
and additional to that one above, you can teleport behind people who does not anticipate it coming and it's an easy crossup again.
U1 has amazing utility and can be used like an Aegis Reflector (e.g.: Dhalsim uses it while you are on the ground and on wakeup teleports behind you. now you have to deal with a fireball on your face and a dhalsim who mixes up between attacks ranging from overhead, normal and low.)
j.MP can interrupt anyone who tries to jump in straight
oh, and did I mention his teleport?

Though, I only have troubles playing against people who actually knows how to use Sim but damn.
That guy is annoying as fk.

C. Viper
  • » C. Viper's crouching Medium Kick has better hit box.
» Burn Kick has increased recovery.
» If hit during start up of Burn Kick, C. Viper is considered grounded and is open to full combo.
As for T.Hawk, they wanted to buff him more so that he doesn't have to rely on command grabs so often and also buff his damage output of his normals.
Ken will receive a slight boost regarding walking speed and his U1 will deal more damage to distinguish from Ryu, and Cammy will have her Cannon Spike nerfed but other tools tweaked...oh and her normals (I think c.HP) will deal less stun and damage.

Dunno if there's more on the whole balancing process but phew.
Dhalsim is incredibly annoying. At least they tuned down his utility by removing the hard knockdown @ his EX Yoga Blast so that he has to bring down the enemy in another way to use his U1 mixups.

@NotEvenDoomMusic:

Dhalsim may be quite frustating but he's a mid-low tier character. I found this one yesterday and it's quite accurate. The discussions on the comments section are interesting too. And yes, EVO says it too; only a few Sim users make it to the top 30 or whatever for last and this year's EVO.

By the way, S/SFIV was ported for the PC so it's no surprise for USFIV.
