I don't know I think playing some maps with the standard osu! colors is really annoying, but the skins are even more so.

Note: This might be harder to do than I think.

This suggestion does have some merit but it might be too specific to be generally useful. As an intermediate solution, you can use a custom skin that has colours you prefer, which I do currently.
