OSGP
OSU! Storyboard Group Project

Current Status
Organizing things together...

I'd like some help here.

I can draw and that's about it.
I'd like a TON of help with bringing this all together.

What I'm trying to do
My idea is to make levels similar to ones in the actual Ouendan and EBA games.
Problem is, I can only draw and halfway make beatmaps.

I'd like to put together at least 5-10 levels together with my pictures and stuff.

It's gonna take a ton of patience, dedication and teamwork.

Who I need to help me
For this project to come toghether, we're gonna need...
-Layout managers
People incharge of putting X/O events and other storyboard elements together using OSU.
-Beatmappers
In charge of building the beatmaps together, they'll also neet to put in 2-4 breaks in the song for X/O events I'm also putting them in charge of picking what songs we use.
-Writers
They'll be in charge of writing plots for the beatmaps. I'm not the best writer, so I'd like some assistance with this.
-Voice actors
They'll mostly be recording themselves yelling OUENDANNN! or HEALLLLP! depending which direction we end up going in.
-Additional Artists
If you can draw, I'd like so help from you too! You'll also draw storyboards too.

Here's where I'm looking for music.

For a project of such ambitious scope, I think it'd be better to hunt for songs osu! has a license to use, so that maybe one day it can be pre-packaged with the client/made an official (and legal) component of osu!.

Oh, how do I tell the difference?
adam2046
Well osu currently has the right to use music that is in the public domain.
I think that's about it.
Oh and I guess music created by us that we give permission to use.

I'm not the biggest fan of the 1920's.
Do you know any of the songs made by people here I may have access to?
adam2046
No idea...also the public domain isn't made from 1920's - 30's song, it actually has songs that people have made for free use...it's just mostly 1920s-30s songs.

I think I'll go look at some newly expired licenses tomorrow then.
I might just pick a recent song to get things started.
adam2046
Also I guess the project is more of a collaboration.

Expired licenses? You know there exist licenses that actually give you the right to do whatever you want with the music, right? Also, smaller unsigned artists might also give permission to use their music in osu! if you approach them (for example, Jonathan Coulton gave the master tracks of one of his songs to someone that wanted to make a Rock Band custom song out of it, and gave him the right to freely distribute it.)

Would songs form here Work?
adam2046
I'm going to have a read through on creative commons and the rights you have to using things licensed under it.
Echo
Creative commons songs should be fine as long as you don't cut or modify the song in any way.

Awesome.
I guess I'll be music hunting there for a few then...

Could anyone wanting to participate suggest a song as well please?

Then we'll sort them out into what types of stories we'll use in them.

I'm quite enjoying the music I'm listening to ^_^ this is a very good way to spend my weekend.

Edit: I can't find a feature to list by country though, is there one?

Okay, I've piked my song.

I'm not sure about the mappability of that song.

I've looked into Jamendo before- I found one song that I thought would make for a great tutorial to be packaged with osu!: Savium - Animus Girl. It wouldn't be a candidate for epic storyboarding, but having something possibly Pippi-themed would be awesome.

And yeah, that song doesn't strike me as being very mappable. I don't mean to sound discouraging, but maybe you should let mappers decide on the song(s) to be mapped.
adam2046
I'm actually quite happy to listen to this album over and over, the last two tracks especially.

Track 1?

Double edit: Just listened to it and I think I see what you mean.

Whoops. It was an oversight on my part on the mapability of the song.
I agree that the Beat mappers should pick the songs.

Animus Girl sounds cool, I can see it being a level.

Have you tried fiddling around with the SBE yourself to see how everything works?

EDIT
I still don't get how to change the countdown
You can either storyboard in a countdown from scratch, or skin the countdown as described here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2003

Just know that if you skin it, it'll be the same for all difficulties.
