As a Begginer (me) in taiko, i was wondering what is good taiko playstyle and what key binds to play with.
And i was curious about what is Your playstyle and keybinds in taiko when you just got into it.
did you changed your playstyle? if you did, why?

  1. Also you can leave tips for me and others to get good at it ;)

The most common style, and one that I have used is K D D K with. The Left Kat being A, Left Don as S, Right Don as L, Right Kat being ;. Its important to find the most comfortable binds for yourself. As for tips I would suggest really listening in on the song and try to play on beat, but at the very beginning I assume you might be struggling with which note is which. In that case just play to get used to the game mode at first.

community/forums/topics/175867 This guide is also very useful. Teaches a lot of the basics and even has a pattern practice maps where you can see and play the different types of patterns you will encounter in a song. Make sure you put in practice of good habits. Try to really hit clean patterns. Make sure you rest as well. You only get better after you rest and take in everything you practiced.

As a side note there is single tapping, full alternation, and in between. Most people would recommend single tapping at the start. However if you can full alternate go for it as it is a skill that will come in handy far down the line.

just play with whatever feels comfortable to you.

as for me I use the KDDK playstyle with my keybinds as AS;' respectively but I used to have it as DFJK.

I only changed the keybinds for ergonomic reasons.

some tips I guess:
- try to avoid converted beatmaps i.e. playing osu!standard maps using the osu!taiko gamemode (they are just not very fun to play imo)
- play a variety of beatmaps to build sight reading skills
- play songs that you enjoy (thats what motivated me in playing more)
- take a break if your hands are feeling strained (learned that one the hard way)
