My mapping career starts now! (osu!mania)

I'm a new osu!mania mapper that is constantly looking for tips / techniques on making better charts. I'm interested about "syncing my notes to the music better" or "coming up with new and unique patterns to use" and "time-saving tips" when mapping in mania.
The best way you can support me is through playtesting my maps ( check my profile ) and giving me constructive critism! My goal is to make enjoyable maps / charts for people to play and have fun, mainly on lesser known songs ( because some people dont have their favorite songs charted ).
I'm not mapping professionally, but rather in a casual way. I don't need any of my charts to be ranked or hyped. I simply want to do mapping as a hobby while making good maps for people to play as well.

Use Audacity to find offset.
When you found the offset, reduce it by 25 (for mp3 files; 0 for ogg files) and take that value.

Already discussed above, but why does it have to be 25? Is there some kind of delay in MP3 files, and if so, why is it consistent?

MP3 has delay. osu! removes this delay when playing an audio, but audacity does not.
The most widely used MP3 encoder, LAME, uses an about 25ms delay, sometimes 23ms, which leads to me saying "reduce by 25".
