Hi,
Im playing osu for more than 3 years and I have a problem that I can't fix for a long time,
and it really stuck my aim progression.

Im holding my pen with too much strenght. I tried a lot of different grips, and each has the same problem for me. If the map is fast or if I make a good score I suddenly use more strenght than require to keep my grip and after like 2min my hand hurt and I release my pen and I miss all the end of the map.
I tried to take my grip with less strenght but the pen moving and do not aim properly.

I play a lot "Beat Saber" and on it I have the same problem with the strenght which hurt my hand after keeping my grip for like 30min.

Do you have an idea for "fixing" that ?

Idk what'd be helpful for you, but i would recommend you to start playing without giving any strength at all and don't go for a good score. The more you play, the more you get used to how you do it, that's how i got rid of that. You're probably dragging though, i used to play with hover but i don't even play with a tablet anymore nor do i care about standard. As i said, play without giving any strength at all for a week or 2 and i think you'll get used to it, it's most likely an issue with your mindset as well. You can try to calm yourself down if there are any breaks during the map.

I tried it for some days and I give up after because my nerves always use more strength for high acc and high combos plays. I found a new grip in the last week that make me more confortable with my aim but it does not change anything about the strength I used to play.

Try change your area.

Maybe try calming yourself down when starting a run and tend to see the run as more for the fun of it instead of seeing it as for pp/score or acc, whichever, because if you see it as that you're gonna get twice the nerves you develop in midway run and then start to flicker with having to much strength on holding the pen it helped for me a bit :).

Uhh, then hold it with less strength.

I don't think it's that simple, people can't fool themselves that easily and it doesn't mean he's not playing for fun if he plays for an FC or rather a really good play.

Correct, but you have to work some way out on relaxing you're nerves whether its to see as if your playing for fun or some other tactic that you know of, don't get me wrong it isn't easy at first but once you start picking up you'll get the hang of it, well that's how it happened in my personal experience. Regardless nerves will always be there just more maintained.

i'm not an expert but i'm pretty sure playing the same map and choking at the same parts would definitely help you about that, not for every map of course, but at least you'd manage to get there with almost no nerves. The rest would be painful though, that's when players need to clear their minds and focus on hitting notes

I changed a lot my grip and my area now and it seems way better. Even if on hard maps and on spinners my nerves make me holding with more strenght im now more comfortable with my aim.

thanks you all for your advices!

Did you make your area larger or smaller?
