Round 53: Slider Stream Jumps

Nominated by dkun/MMzz. A more advanced technique in standard where instead of using an orthodox stream, you replace it with sliders (as pictured above), keeping the same stream difficulty, as you need to move and click, rather than just following a stream. Essentially, you jump with your cursor and stream, hence "Slider Stream Jumps".

Map(s) that use this technique (these maps are also screenshotted above, in order.)
  1. TOMOSUKE - Macuilxochitl mapped by Charles445
  2. Memme - Plasma Gun mapped by Maddy
  3. Memme - Extreme Fantasy mapped by AngelHoney

This is fairly one of the best techniques, because you avoid too many note streams (They make the map a bit boring) and they are SO FUN to play! I want more people that use this.

They're very sketchy for me. I find that they only feel good if they're slight, as in as close as possible. Maybe with as much as 1.5x spacing, but please not leaping across the screen. I like to move with the music, not with a bunch of giant leaps.

When done correctly it adds a great effect on the map. Not only does it add some excitement but it gives more emphasis on the flow.
This is probably just from my experience with such, but i'd rather see this used only on lower bpm maps (around 160 and below, maybe). A danger with this technique is that when used incorrectly it can do anything from become an annoying slider break to an overall messy map, especially when its used more for design purposes.
Unless the mapper knows what he's doing I'd rather stay safe and avoid this technique, but yeah in theory it'd be fun.

I'm voting 4 here. They can be really awesome to play, but only if you use them in the right places. Using this tecnique in calm zones would be quite illogic, actually.

Also yay, one of my diffs is there \o\

funny if readable, and if it makes sense, so 4
it can be hell annoying for fullcomboing something or SS (well, can't SS them anyway) that's why not 5 :d

They're so fun <3
They're cool because you can replace streams with them sometimes what works perfectly for high bpm maps
Mismagius
Awesome when they're not mixed with hitcircles.
When that happens, it turns into a piece of crap.
4.

Don't like them with huge spacing, but fun to play if else. 4

If it fit to the music too and not just a pattern which looks good, then be it. Otherwise it will be really distracting.

4 if they are 1/2 sliders and mapped correctly. I find them annoying a lot, but they can be a lot of fun.

-2 if they are used like 1/4 or 1/8 slider streams.
tieff

It's not really new, I used it like 3 years ago.

Depending on the song pace and it's use(as said). So might give a 4

Pretty sure that they meant that it was two years since NoHitter was running things. None of the techniques are outstandingly unique or special, but they're still notable enough to be posted.

I hate this, unless it's done properly. Many mappers don't know how to space the sliders, or arrange them in ways that are much too annoying to aim for. The idea behind the technique is great, but I'm giving a 2 since the execution of it has generally been boring in my experience.

I agree. Only maps that actually used it well are ones like this.

these are hard to read especially when they're 1/4 sliders at a high bpm. you either get them all perfectly or end up breaking your combo, and at worst, full out missing several sliders and dying.
