REDOWNLOAD IF YOU ALREADY HAD THE MAP BEFORE IT GOT LOVED

This is a custom map for the Quarter Finals stage of Banger Bonanza, hosted by megumic.

This was a lot of work :^)

Update November 11, 2021: I have made some slight changes to the map, since it will enter a loved voting soon. Most of them are very minor visual fixes, but there a few noticable changes as well. You can find the original map here (if you put the file in the beatmap folder it should work fine)

True magic behind the scenes

Some details about the process
I got the request some time around the end of March. megumic asked for a more fancy looking storyboard map (compared to Love Fighter for example), provided the song and thought I could maybe do something with shapes and a CMYK color palette. I got most of the inspiration from the music video on Youtube.

First two weeks of April (roughly): listening to the song on endless loops, building a concept in my head. This includes an overall theme and gimmicks that fit with certain parts of the song. Nothing is being made yet.

Rest of April and the entirety of May: still listening to the song but locking gimmicks in place to get the entire thing structured in my head. Also includes drawing some sketches so I don't forget half of it (example)

First week of June: actually making the entire thing. Normally I'd start earlier but I happened to be busy around this time. This includes extending all my storyboard scripts so I can make the gimmicks. I rarely add entirely new gimmicks at this point since I already have the map structure ready. Gimmicks are tweaked A LOT though, since most of the time it just doesn't work that well when I create the initial version. It's a continuous process of changing the storyboard and the map underneath to improve the visuals and most importantly, the playability of the map. This goes on until I'm left with something I'm satisfied with.

I am very happy with the result; I feel like it's a huge improvement over my earlier storyboard maps in both the visual and playability aspect. It seems like the overall public reaction agrees with me on that :^)
