Why is my distance snap icon red?

I saw on the knowledge base that it says"A red Distance Snap icon means the circle is too far away from the playfield, hence an error." What does it mean by the circle being too far away? Which circle? How do I fix it?
Sorry if the awnser is obvious; thank you in advance

basically it turns red if the object you are trying to place/move goes offscreen. it normally happens when the distance spacing is too high

to fix this, just hold alt and the beat snap divisor option thing in the top right will be replaced with a distance spacing option thing. then, just select a smaller distance to space to
