Hello, I'm a 4k main mania player, and I played on 2015 to 2017, before I had to quit due to various pain on my wrist. Now that I'm back playing mania with more understanding of these symptoms, I would like to share why each symptoms occur, and how to alleviate them.

1. Knuckles pain

I suffered this pain through mobile game, not osu mania, but I will mention it nontheless.

It occurs when the hitting surface and the finger are not perpendicular as shown in the picture above. In the case of keyboard based rhythm game, the keyboard reduces the shock to some extent, but in mobile rhythm game, the shock that occurs when hitting the hard screen is transmitted to the joint of the finger directly, and it seems to cause pain.

In my case, in order to solve this, I rotated the wrist a little more as shown in the photo above so that the hitting surface is perpendicular to the finger.

2. wrist pain

First of all, red pain occurs when you apply force with the wrist bent outward as shown in the picture below.

To solve this pain, I use 2 9 key numpads with spacing to play mania.

In the past, I used the following key layout.

Next, the pain in the blue area occurred when I applied force with the wrist bent upward, as shown in the photo below.

These pains can be easily resolved by using a palm rest.

3. arm pain

In the relaxed state of the arms, as shown on the left side of the photo above, it is a posture in which the palms face each other, just like before clapping. You can't tap the keyboard in this position, so to do that, you need to twist your arms as shown in the picture on the right, so your palms are facing the floor. This position seems to be straining the arm and causing pain in the lower part of the arm.

To solve this, I oriented 2 numpads like a tent, so that my arm is less twisted.

In the past, to solve this using basic keyboard layout, I put an arbitary object under the keyboard in the key layout shown before to make the keyboard tilt forward. This way, you will be able to tap the keyboard even if you rotate your wrist slightly outward.

4. elbow pain

This pain occurred when playing a rhythm game without supporting the elbow. This can be easily solved by adjusting the height of the chair's arm support.

I got images from wikipedia articles, but English version did not have a suitable arm picture, so I looked into other languages...

All I know about finger locking is it happens whenever i put too much force on my fingers, which is unavoidable for me... sorry for lack of useful information...

might not be the same kind of finger locking as I am imagining it to be. What I am talking about is these parts of fingers refusing to bend

my left hand gets hard and literally stops moving, it doesn't hurt, but is annoying as fuck, even it still happens after doing some "flexions" and warming up my wrist as well
just like this but after pausing the game, i can move my hand like if nothing happened
ist not a mindblock or something because my muscles sometimes just get hard enought just to ruin me the day

Welp i found that i got Tendonitis

▓▒░(°◡°)░▒▓

my wrist affected my gameplay overall tensing up my fingers on my left hand and my wrist cracks when i do the hand exercises, i doesn't hurt but it's sad as fuck

i'm very sorry for necroposting, but THANK YOU for this thread, i stretched a tendon in my hand a couple weeks ago, and had been experiencing pain in the blue area since then (even after 3 week break), the pain subsided, but i still felt tension in the blue area whenever there was even an ounce of speed or finger control, putting an ikea rat under my wrist has fixed it completely

i was afraid i wouldn't be able to play my favourite maps ever again, since i'm a stamina player, but this saved me :DDDD

if you were still actively playing i would gift you lots of supporter or something :^)

no i am confusing i wanted to say my right hand's middle finger

right middle finger != right hand's middle finger real

Anyway there shouldn't be a problem? Does your finger hurt at all when it's cracked? How are you tapping?
