I have seen how it is done. I have watched some video tutorials and read some articles about how to import my own .mp3 file so i could edit it to a beatmap.
My problem is: it is not working...
I have no problem to drop a .mp3 file into the osu! songs folder, but starting osu does not do anything. It just "searches for new files", which puts the .mp3 file i wanted to use into a folder with the same name of it, but the song does not appear in my song list.
Am i doing anything wrong?

Example:
1. I drop "RandomBand - HappyDay.mp3" into the "Songs" folder of osu!
2. I start osu.exe
3. There is no new song in my list
4. In the "Songs" folder of osu! there now is a folder called "RandomBand - HappyDay.mp3" in which the file "RandomBand - HappyDay.mp3" got playced
