1/6 mixed up in 1/4 streams

I recently have been really enjoying playing taiko and can definitely say I keep improving but there is still one thing which seems like a huge barrier to me. It‘s 1/6 patterns/notes in 1/4 streams. Is there a way to read or practice them? I always try to read them like they are a whole new stream and start with my dominant hand. (I end up missing half of the time lol)

If you have a switch or a ps4 you could always get the official Taiko games. They have easier songs that can work you into streams a little easier. (the timing window is a little different then osu!taiko though)

edit: the ps4 Version also has a practice mode where you can slow the game down to like .25 speed and practice that way.

You could try to read them properly. Go to the editor whenever you see some 1/6 + 1/4 patterns which are unfamiliar to you and then take your time trying to play them.
