I checked old threads and stuff and it said to press f6 and some bar thing would appear but that isn't happening for me, any idea on what the issue is?

if you're pressing f6 and for some reason it isn't working, click on the Timing tab and then click on the Timing Setup button
Press Ctrl+Shift+S to add a green line. F6 only opens the Timing Panel window.
