I am unsure of how to begin mapping my first song

I could really use guidance in making a beatmap for the first time. I have played plenty of beatmaps, but I am not sure how to go about making a beatmap. I have plenty of songs to work with but it's so overwhelming to me with all that goes into mapping that I am afraid that something I make will end up looking bad.

I am just nervous about trying this out; I would like to know that people support my efforts to try something new here........

Mapping can be overwhelming at times. (If you are lost by what I say, I highly advise you skip to the end to learn where to get help)
For starting out, get the correct timing and use a slider velocity and circle size that fixes your map.
Afterward, just map in a way that fits the song. In general, if you are a new mapper that doesn't know how to use jumps, use distance snap and don't have notes/sliders overlap. Make sure there is a good mix of notes and sliders, and have fun xD
