A folder where we can drag custom hitsounds in that can be searched through an in-game list. We should then be able to select hitsounds and import them into whatever map we're making without having to open the song folder or changing the name of the music file. If this idea were added it would cut minutes off the hitsound testing process, and allow a premade folder for storing the hitsounds. I'm sure it would encourage more mappers to use custom hitsounds if the process was simplified.

I also thought of being able to drag wavs into the osu screen, which will bring up the import window for easy hitsound setting.

That sounds like an idea for someone to make a "third party" application out of and post it in General Development. In case this request never goes through.

but yeah, this could be pretty useful when dealing with custom hitsounds.

In the past, I just downloaded all of the hitsounds from t/15407 and use a music playback software to listen to them. What other features do you want? Tags and categories are all that come to mind right now.

A way to listen and import custom hitsounds located from a folder. It would remove the need to copy and rename the files as it should rename it for you, removing the need for people to know the custom hitsound name format. It would allow for each hitsound access and cut the time it takes to add custom hitsounds for a map to a fraction of the time it takes now as the only time consuming part is actually locating the sounds.

^That is what I want and anything less is not good enough.

Not exactly sure how much time that will save. A program can only name the hitsound for you and put it into the right folder. You still need to know exactly what hitsound you want where. This still requires you to understand, what each of the various hitsounds are, what custom sets are, and testing.

That's why i'm suggesting a hitsound preview window. It would list all of the audio files in the folder specified. you can then select one and listen to it. I don't know what you are trying to get at. It takes me at least 15 minutes to test hitsound options. i'm pretty sure this will save time. it should take me less than 5 minutes if this were added.

I'll give this a BUMP. Perhaps the devs could go one step further and give us a hitsound, skin, and sprite library in which we can choose what we want to use from a single location. I can imagine subfolders being added. you can choose to import single elements within the subfolders or importing the entire subfolder of elements into the song folder.
