This is a slightly silly guide, but if for some reason you are like me and like to backup/have version control on your beatmap at all times even if you haven't updated it yet. (If you really want version control, a private coding repository is probably better)
Required Software:
If you follow this guide, you can have a way for an online server to constantly backup your beatmap each time it is saved. At least for Dropbox, if you go to their online database, you can check on the various versions of your file in case you ever need to roll it back.
How To Sync Your Beatmap Folder With Your Online Storage:
1. Install the required software listed above
2. Go to your beatmap folder, right click the song folder of the song you want to backup, and press "Pick Link Source"
3. Go to your cloud storage directory, create a new folder, right click it, and select "Drop As..." -> " Symbolic Link"
4. If you check inside this newly created folder, you will find the folder of the document you linked (this is a symbolic Link, so technically this folder is outside of your storage folder, but it will still sync online.)
If you ever want to remove the Symbolic Link, just create the folder created by the Symbolic Link.
As a small afterthought, you can share this beatmap folder with collaborators to create a collaboration that everyone can map in, albeit with a few issues. (Dropbox, has no way of combining saved edits if 2 ppl are mapping at the same time)

That is it for this guide. If you want to use online cloud storage for version control, Dropbox is a terrible choice. this guide is just meant to be a simple way to backup the various versions of your map. If I have time, I will write a guide on how to use actual version control software to backup your map and even collaborate with others.
Required Software:
- A cloud storage software with a desktop client (Dropbox will be used in this example, but almost any software in this category is fine)
- Link Shell Extension (Technically you do without it, but I like having a GUI to make symbolic links
