If this topic is a duplicate, sorry, maybe I didn't know if somebody posted this already

So, I was thinking, if one has Windows XP and he can't see the Japanese language in a beatmap--for example, Kuraki Sekai no Doukoku... I had Windows XP before I installed Windows 8 so all I saw at that time is squares. I wonder what will happen if you add an option to show the Unicode text even in the beatmap... I'd be so glad to see that feature! :)

I don't understand how this will help. If your computer can't read characters in game, how will it help you read the characters out of game?

If you're using a version of Windows prior to 7 (not including 7 itself) you'll have to install asian language packs to be able to see non-english metadata.
Actually, you'll need them to see japanese text EVERYWHERE (except Chrome, because it has its own Unicode fontpack)

At the moment it can because Windows 8. When I had Windows XP, it couldn't.

With Windows 8 one doesn't need to install them.

Then something is wrong with your computer or with Windows 8 support on osu!. Should be on Tech Support.
Non-english metadata shows just fine on my freshly-installed Windows 7 Ultimate virtual machine.

Non-Ultimate Windows 7 has a more limited Japanese Unicode support.

Ain't the difference on Unicode support from Ultimate/Business to the rest just the ability to install system language files (aka: changing your whole OS to Japanese or any other language)?
