I don't use a mousepad. My desk is some classy shit. I also don't know if I could play at 1600 dpi, that's a bit much for me.

My mouse is Trust GM-4200 1600 dpi

this is the link of the mouse http://www.trust.com/products/product_d ... item=14463

but, now i'm very newbie with this dpi, before this mouse, i had a trust of 1000 dpi, and in osu, i had 2,8x sensitivity.
now i use less than 1.0x of sensitivity.

i dont have mouse mat. only mouse on the table ^^

If you feel comfortable with the mouse, it just takes practice to get used to it. If you feel like you're overshooting too much, try lowering or disabling mouse acceleration. I hate mouse accel because it goes against your logic: mouse speed should equal cursor speed (with some scalar proportion)!

You just have to get used to it. I play at 3200 dpi.
Lesjuh
I also have a mouse and I play very much with it.

Practise makes master.

I use an 800DPI Logitech MX400 mouse, and it doesn't bother me one bit. You can always tweak the sensitivity in game, but the reason most people get high DPI mice is for the accuracy and such IIRC.

Isn't 800 Dpi Pretty slow? :/

nah, im just trying to be the lowest sensitivity mouse user here heheh..

PLUS i like jumps. so using that sensitivity makes almost all maps have jumps..

it makes boring maps fun to play too..

What sensi are you using in game though? 3200 DPI with 0.5 sensitivity is the same as 800 DPI with a sensitivity of 2 ~

I can't imagine anyone using 3200DPI with a high sensi..
Xaryn_old
Ah, whatever the default is. 1 I believe.
kideddie1501
Take my advice, no matter what mouse you use, dont use on ethat vibrates when you click. ESPECIALLY when playing osu! :|

Why are people in this thread buying gaming mice that arent the MX518
Lucidity
Because they live in 2009? :P

I still use an MX518 though.
anonymous_old
Sensitivity changes from mouse to mouse. When talking about sensitivity in gaming, you usually mean the general categories (low, middle, high), not the number value used for calibration.

For example, I can configure my mouse so 0.1x in osu! and the lowest setting in Windows is crazily sensitive.
Ekaru
You mean 0.5x. That's what I use in osu!, wish I could go lower. I use the default of Windows to boot. This mouse is around 1K DPI. It's also wireless. It's a Microsoft Wireless Optical 2000. I recommend a 2000 or 3000 if you don't want wires.

Or you can get a real gaming mouse. MX518 has very good reviews. I would consider getting that mouse. Some good osu! players use it, I know that much for sure.

All the more reason to buy one, it's cheaper.

Seriously you aren't going to need anything better than a 1800 dpi mouse.

Unless you want a wireless, but if you're a gamer why would you use wireless.

This, unless you play at a very low sensitivity. (In that case, it only matters if you have a larger display.)

Nah MX518 is still in stores, I still see em in best buys for 45~

I'm definitely biased to its shape though, I don't like other grips as much.

MX518 doesn't work well with MMO players since it doesnt have the big amount of extra buttons they want.

I still think anything more than 1600 dpi is a bit of a waste though(MX518 is 1800), I know a few FPSers who are the only people that really need that precision who actually set their mice down to 1600 dpi.

I heard keyboards nowadays have more than 100 buttons!
lukewarmholiday
Nothing beats mapping buttons to a mouse for when you mouseover.

Since a most people I know use their mouse with their dominant hand they are going to have quicker reactions with it.

dpi trolling
I don't think anyone here, including you, understands the true importance of dpi. If the mouse doesn't have a decent gaming surface, dpi is worthless, even with shit like paper you'll constantly encounter problems with the sensitivity and easiness to move. Taking this into account it is clear that dpi is not for making a mouse perform better, neither is it for quality assurance.
Gentlemen, dpi directly affects the user's e-peen. A larger dpi will result in trolling and perversion whereas a small dpi will result in noobishness and loss of intelligence.
Now fear my 4000dpi Lachesis with 1000hz ultrapolling, a 16-bit data path and a bunch of other badass shit that'll make your IT teacher cry.

What about em?

Everyone's shirts has the brand name on the right sleeve...?
Lucidity
Not all of them :P

But if the pro's play with it. Then it must be good. Regardless of whether they're sponsored by SS ;p
Nachy
Pro gamers. Ha.
Neo@lex
Pros play with Razer. I've never heard of SteelSeries, but I guess they must be better if their range goes that hi-

neo@lex: Who said anything about being better?

Pro gamers will be pro gamers regardless of hardware.

Granted, some hardware helps them use their abilities.

Look at Rolled, for example. He's pro, but uses Dell gear. =]

"Pro gamer gear" is mostly hype anyway. Go for comfort.

ball mouse to be honest. they are underestimated. i only take it out when i get serious cause i dont want to wear out my precious ball.

Just as CRT's are.

However, I generally like that I can lift my lazer mouse without weight shifting and stuff.

Ye Rolled isn't a "Pro Gamer" ... :p I meant people who earn salaries and make a living off of it :p But yeah, comfort (Mouse shape) is the most important thing to look at when buying a mouse. That's as long as you're buying a quality brand (Logitech/Razer/SteelSeries). If not, you obviously have to investigate the reliability etc.

Gotta say the "Pro gamer gear" isn't ALL hype though. They are made specifically for gamers so have a bunch of features that make your life easier. I used to attend quite a few LAN competitions and the ability to save profiles onto the mouse itself helped a lot. I did not have to install and mess around with drivers and sensi settings for however long and could instead focus on getting my aim in or sorting out other issues. That was especially useful if you only had 5-10 minutes to set up before your match started. Are these features worth the premium you pay for them though? Generally, probably not :p But I got the gear for free \;D/ (Sponsored by SteelSeries)

If you're ONLY gonna use it for osu! then get the cheapest logitech you can find. (If you have big hands)

Or get the cheapest Razer. (If you have smaller hands or "claw" grip)

Or get the cheapest SteelSeries. (Wait, nonexistant?)

CRT's are getting harder to update to keep up with LCD's, they aren't cost effective.
CRT's are harder to "update" because there's almost no R&D for it. That's what marketting caused. If CRT's had as much R&D as LCD's, CRT's would perhaps be made much thinner now (not as thin as LCD's obviously) and generally better than LCD's are now. However, the LCD route was followed because it was generally nicer for the user at the time, and you have to follow the market unless you have zillions of moneys.

Lucidity, I said Rolled was pro, not a "Pro Gamer." ;P
