Hey, this is my first beatmap. The song is housethegrate's own arrangement of a song from Castlevania 3. This song and others are available at his website: http//www.housethegrate.com/.

Hope you enjoy it.

Update 12/4: Modified both beatmaps to have better beat spacing, hopefully.
Update 12/5: Made some sections easier... hopefully.

Well, your timing is good and follows the guitar work quite well. Quite well to the point where you need to get to know the song to ace it, I think. On the other hand, the beat spacing on this beatmap is atrocious at times. The combo at 1:35:70 is a good example of this. Hitcircles 1, 2 and 3 are evenly spaced apart, but beats 1 and 2 are half-beats, whereas beat 3 is a whole beat away. Then you have a 4-5-6 triplet a good distance away, but the distance between 3 and 4 is a half-beat, and looks like it's 1 or 1.5 beats away. You may want to watch the editor play your song to get a better feel of what's out of place. Go through the song again and try adjusting the beats. Remember: holding alt when you're positioning a note will give you a suggestion of how far away that note should be from the last one.

Thanks awp. My main problem is that I'm used to mapping the position of notes in rhythm games according to pitch instead of rhythm. Sometimes I managed to do both, but I guess other parts suffered more than I may have realized since I already know the rhythm of the beats. Lesson learned.

There's one thing I'm not sure about though. One of the main repeating note patterns in the song is a checkerboard pattern like this:

      5 Simple Rhythm:
3 6 1 2 3 4 5 6
1 4 | . . . | . . . | . .
2

Technically the space between 1 and 2 is smaller than 2 and 3, but when I'm playing I don't really notice it because 1 and 3 are evenly spaced. Is this part of what you are calling atrocious beat spacing, or is it okay?

Edit: Also, the section immediately after the break has a constantly changing beat spacing, but I did it completely intentionally. That isn't a problem, is it?

The code you have there is fine because of the implied pattern. Also, the difference in the spacing is very negligeable. The two things to remember are consistency and intuition. There shouldn't be any "surprises" in the spacing of the beats.

Very interesting, although I had trouble following the beat in some places. I didn't give this map enough time in play mode and haven't checked in edit mode yet, but the timing is spot on. Let's see what others have to say :D. (I think this is worth starring though)

While it's pretty to look at in Edit Mode, in Play Mode it's nearly impossible to know what's coming next. Especially after the half-way mark, the whole thing just becomes impossibly hard to play. I can't really approve of this. At least not the insane mode one.

I'm trying to make some parts of the insane map a little easier, but it would help a lot if you could tell me what parts you find impossible. I have a feeling the section right after the third spinner is what's causing the trouble, but I don't want to remove it if that isn't the problem.
